Ugliest speakers?

Like these? I liked them while I owned them. A little on the large side though...

Those look dated, but not all that ugly.

Those are certainly strange. Almost a futuristic spacey look to them. I wouldn't recognize them as speakers unless I looked closely at them.

I have some JBL Prima L25's that were bright orange. VERY UGLY. I painted em' black but they still looked like a dorm fridge. Sound good though. Still have them hooked up to my system in the basement.

Those pioneers weigh 140 lbs apiece... VERY well built.

Picked these up on the bay....They ugly....but cool. I've totally rebuilt them and this weekend I will sand them down to pure clean oak. Cheers.

Those are by far the ugliest I have ever seen. They look like they came out of some cheesy '70s seafood restaurant with a pirate theme.

P.S. I think those Pioneer are beautiful. I would be proud to display them in my living room. Then again, I find the baby-coffin rectangular boxes of the 60s, 70s, and 80s to be unattractive.

Those are ugly yes, but not *that* ugly. They're certainly dated, but... I dunno, they have a kind of charm. I'm not sure what kind of charm, but they aren't too ugly.

The barrel speakers seem to be getting the most votes for ugliest homemade speaker, but the Wilson Watt Puppies, the blue ones that look like trash cans seem to be the ugliest mass produced speakers.

THE hands-down butt-ugliest speaker intentionally designed and made that way have to be the MBL 101's.....ABSOLUTELY HIDEOUS!!! MBL's top model, the 101 X-treme, is $199,000 (yes....one hundred ninety-nine THOUSAND dollars) per pair!!!.....GULP!!!

I called them the 'pregnant cyclopses' back in the day. Especially fugly with the grilles off. Had a bright, tizzy top end that was aggravating. And the level was fixed, so there was no way to tone it down at the speakers.

The original Advent with Masonite ring is pretty bad with the grills off. Nice with the grill on though. Lots of the old ones have that made-by-7-year-old look with the grills off.

I just picked up some Scott s-102 today which are pretty bad.

Someone mentioned those ugly yellow HiVi woofers a few pages back, well here they are in all their (ugly) glory, on top of that they are my home builts as well!

Good news is that I finally did finish the cabs with black wood grain vinyl, am making grill covers as we speak and finally if they did not sound so darn good they would be curb fodder by now.....

As for an ugly production speakers those eames "mod" types from the 1960's- the single drivers that fired up into an inverted cone with 4 chrome legs to keep it from blasting off are my pick!

What is the receiver on the very bottom of the stack?

Kenwood 4070. Not working quite right. Sound cuts in/out. Its either the power switch or volume control. Above that is a Pioneer SX990 with one channel out on the pre-amp side of things.
