This item description is beyond belief...

You've got spunk. I hate spunk.

Also another positive are the nice gallery of photos. He answers my question that I always ask sellers who often just post a single photo of an unplugged receiver: Do all lights and meters work. Especially the Stereo indicator.

... maybe OP was amazed and beyond belief the seller is so informative and detailed?

And as if all this isn't enough to have you wiping the drool from your chin right about now, how about this: We'll ship this 'refined beast', via FULLY Insured UPS Ground, to ANY Location within the Contiguous 48 States, for FREE! Yes, Folks----Over 80 Pounds, Packed, for FREE!! Now, if you're even THINKING about this for more than 2 seconds, you may need to have your head examined, or at the very least, find a new hobby!

Ok, I have been thinking about it for more than 2 seconds, but I won't take it personally ... :D

I know this seller personally. D****s can make a sow's ear into a silk purse. God bless his heart. :scratch2:

He knows that buyers enjoy having their posteriors kissed, and his write-ups reflect it.

Actually the seller is still correct.
If you look at the Service Manual:

Continuous Power output
(both channels driven)
100W 8 ohms 105W 4 ohms
@1kHz 110 W 8 ohms 110 W 4 ohms

Classicaudio sometimes doesn't get it right or fully disclose the source context. Not to say they are beyond belief. ;)

100 % feedback. Top rated seller? Great feedback on other more expensive audio items. What's your problem again?

Answers a lot of questions about condition.

Better than the cryptic plugged it in and it lit up descriptions or can't test bs -- no? Like anything the buyer needs to know what they want and do their research. They should be buying the receiver not just the marketing BS.

If you are more interested in the style of the seller than the receiver, it's not for you.

I have an SX-1010. I know what it sounds like.

I would have no problem with dealing with the seller at all.

Wow, I didn't expect this thread to get all this attention! I did not mean to be critical, each to his own, but IMO he went a little over the top in describing it. I buy and sell gear on eBay as well, so I know that a little emphasis here and there, as long as it's true and does not mislead people never hurt. By the way, to the seller if he has been reading this thread, that added paragraph says the receiver is a SX-1080. Just thought you would want to know. :naughty::D

My personal opinion is any seller who blocks bids from Alaska or Hawaii, especially when the potential buyer assures they will cover all shipping costs, is at best an elitist snob; period.

All states contribute some way to the Union, whether it`s soldiers or resources. It would be nice if those sellers ceased treating those two states as third-world countries.

Up less than a day and nine bids already. People don't seem to be all that put off by the description.

Fedex and UPS ground don't go to HI or AK. I won't sell there or PR or the rest of the world.

You spelled it wrong, it's not elitest, it's easiest.

With other shipping options available to US citizens within our borders, in that case it`s called laziest. :nono:

It`s often easier to admit you`re lazy than any other excuse.

Fedex and UPS ground go to Canada, yet Canada is also often blocked (as in this case). I notice the listing mentions something about not shipping outside the US due to "Voltage Requirements." Obviously, whatever else the seller may be, he's also profoundly ignorant about the world outside of the Lower 48.

The receiver is selling itself (on the reputation it has been given by the 99% of the people the seller claims don't know what they're talking about - in contrast to his own obvious extensive knowledge of the piece. That "pop" you just heard was my tongue bein xtracted from my cheek), though I'm sure the 100% feedback and free shipping are also major contributors. The rest of the text is gold-plated bovine excreta.

I've owned an SX-1010, an SX-1050 and several SX-1250's over the years and to my ears the XX50 series sounded noticeably better than the SX-1010- and I didn't come to that conclusion because I was brain washed by a "collector". The SX-1010 does NOT have MOS-FET output transistors either. Sorry, but this guy's a little over the top in his description and his condescending attitude towards those who are more "in the know" only serves to alienate them as potential buyers as you can tell from the O.P and many others in this thread.

I'll ship something to the Moon as long as the buyer coughs up the $$$ to pay for the service.

The only issues I have with international shipping are the size and weight restrictions the USPS has as they are the vendor I use. I don't use Fedex or UPS because of cost, "brokerage" fees, and potential charge-backs which burnt me once.

Overpriced 70's mid-fi driven by nostalgia, it's a disease that could last for yrs....just another way to exploit this incurable disease so keep bidding. :thmbsp:
There's plenty of other Hi-Fi (in my opinion) that performs much better for a fraction.

Would I be misled if I thought that using USPS lowered the costs also?I'm no expert on this question.

I've bought from all over the World, and as you said,in most instances the seller was unable to use USPS because of the size and weight constraints within which USPS accept the freight.

(Back to the topic)The eBay expert must have felt chastened when posting the correction about the MOS-FETs being Sankens.Especially after all the hyperbole about the MOS-FET being the reason why the 1010 sounded superior to the dreaded bi-polars. :thmbsp:
