thorens headshell?

anyone have any idea where i can get a thorens headshell or any headshell that will work on a thorens td 160. thanks, jeremy justice

Ebay. The last two sold for $110 and $61 and those prices aren't that surprising. Sometimes it's cheaper to buy a whole turntable.

yeah right! i was thinking about the tone arm on ebay now for $160 i think just to get the headshell and have some spares, does anyone else make something that fits or is a thorens all that will fit?

Nothing else fits. It's the Achilles Heel of that era of Thorens table. It doesn't appear that there are any beater TD-165s around either and everything Thorens has gone up in price since I last looked.

I suffered from the same delima, then decided to think of my tonearm as a fixed headshell type and now it doesn't bother me as much anymore...

Which headshell does your arm take? There are two "common" Thorens headshells. One is basically straight and is made of thin aluminum, silver colored. The other is angled and I think is black.

it has the black one, with the tp-16 tonearm (i think), i was looking at the silver one on ebay , does anyone know if it would fit on this tonearm? the reason for all of this is i just bought a shure m97xe off of craigslist "brand new" for $40, the guy said he tried to put it on his turntable but it wouldnt fit? honestly the whole thing seemed a little shady, but whatever. so i also have a pickering xsv 4000 cartridge and wanted to do some comparing but it is such a pain to keep switching cartridges back and forth so i just wanted to get another headshell, but damn these are expensive!
