No user serviceable parts inside me...
No, this side-bar is in regard to service entrance to my residence.
Yes, yes, I knew what you meant. Just trying to add a bit of levity to a thread that's becoming a pointless argument.

Oh. Completely missed that as I didn't see an argument, rather a reasonable discussion.
It’s 2018, some people are sensitive![]()
We all have to respect electricity and each other's feelings. I am personally shocked by the combative remarks here. It is essential we stay grounded and not exceed the emotional current carrying capacity of our internal wiring.
Internally, the emotional neutral is bonded to ground.![]()

The frog legs tasted good either way...
3" thick and made from the same kind of steel used in battleships! I hear you loud and clear. Unfortunately, the feelings and self esteem crap has invaded every part of this world including the armed forces. Being an NCO, you had to earn it unlike those ROTC pukes. For reasons beyond my control, I couldn't join up in my youth, even though, I was fortunate enough to know many who served. Nothing like a friendly shouting match/ fist fight to release all the stresses of life. After all, we're all on the same boat.I get it, Some people are sensitive. After many years of “discussions” in the Chiefs Mess I have skin about 3’ thick, I have also come to the conclusion that many here would not survive that environment. There would be spit flying, fists pounding etc. at the end it was always worked out and everyone had a beer together, no one cried and took their ball home. My fellow Chiefs and other service NCO’s (there are a few on here) know what I am talking about.

I've never tried them- people say they are like chicken? Is that true?![]()
https://fyi.uwex.edu/mrec/files/2011/04/W4.-Biesterveld-NEC-grounding-MREC2010.pdfNew home construction does not have the neutrals strapped to the ground any more. They are kept totally separate. Things change, Standards change.

Chicken tastes a bit like frog. Frog doesn't taste at all like chicken.I've never tried them- people say they are like chicken? Is that true?![]()
So, the key to receiving beat-downs is practice? There would be spit flying, fists pounding etc. at the end it was always worked out and everyone had a beer together, no one cried and took their ball home.
that is true, the return current path, within the house and ONLY within the house is via the white wire.
however at the panel, or in cases of mobile home at the pole, neutral and ground are tied. in fact, there is no concept of neutral w.r.t you house UNTIL you get to the 220v step down at your pole or a pole close to the house. take a set of binocs or a rifle scope (with no rifle so people dont call the cops saying you are shooting transformers) and trace out from the safety of the ground, the wires. note, that the derived neutral and the earthing system is well tied together
the age of our grid components is 'n' in the US so its hard to state with certainty WHAT you have arriving at your house, but as it gets replaced, hot, of various phases and/or voltages is sent on the crossbars and the earth-copy is sent on the insulator just below that. At my house in the woods, I have exactly 2 wires, the upper hot at >1kv and ground. at every pole, the ground is repeated AND run to earth with at least a #4 conductor and in most cases the guy wire. locally, YMMV[/QUOte
