Thrift score...i think!

So? :thumbsdn: :thmbsp: :D

Well....after some extensive listening of different music types I like my Altecs WAY, WAY more! The Altecs accel much more in the midrange and highs. The Yamaha's have a bit more bass but I for one would take mids and highs over bass any day. :smoke:

Which Altecs do you have?

Boy they saw you coming. I can help ease the pain. Paypal or check, either works for me. Heck, I'll even double what you paid since I am such a nice guy. Call it my good deed for the day.

Not what you might think...

I'm no expert so take this any way you feel.

From what I know those Yamahas were used in mixing rooms because they sounded like ordinary speakers found in average households. The engineer could boost bass or treble or whatever on the mix to get the best sound from the recording that would sound best on boomboxes or BPC, or car systems.

However, they are nonetheless very well built and can sound excellent with the correct equalization. Personally I would love to own a pair.

At $15 you have found an insane deal.

should have waited untill "half price day" then maaaybeee you could say "Score".

very nice, very desirable you just found some very nice monitors...or a wad of hundreds...your call.

cheers

Better be some darn serious Altecs to trailer the NS1000.

I have the Altec 848A Flamencos.:D Which I have recently recapped with Daytons and replaced both diaphragms in the horns with the new GPA diaphragms. I have even had fellow AKers over to listen and we ALL agree....the Altecs spank the Yamahas in the midrange department and render them helpless in the highs. Of course we're talking Altecs and tubes and to my ears I have heard nothing better!

I'm thinking maybe there's something wrong with your 1000's and that's why they were at the thrift store. Are you sure all the drivers are working?
