I picked up a copy, but they did not have the Deluxe Version, as I see you have.

It was a little disappointing the first listen, as the songs sounded somewhat unfinished, almost like demos. The more I listened the less I thought that.

Tom Waits, a truly unique talent. With lines like "I'm nothing that will capture your heart, I'm just thorns without the rose" and "their memories like a train, you can see it getting smaller as it pulls away" he's the great unrecognized American poet. Dylan schmillin. It's several years in and I'm still going crazy over Orphans, his triple disc release. And Orphans is outtakes and unreleased cuts. Anybody who thinks he isn't a genius need only listen to "Time" off the album Raindogs. Anyone who thinks he can't write a beautiful song and sing it the same way need only to listen to "Hold On" off of Mule Variations or "Tell It To Me" off of Orphans. If only he'd tour more, because I've seen him live and he is a gas. If you initially dismissed him on first listen give Tom Waits a second chance. The depth and breadth of his talent is unparalleled.

I heard the album on Tom Waits.com when you could stream it for free. Pretty psyched about getting my copy.

Yeah, what Martin said. We all liked him right from "The Heart of Saturday Night", and realized that he was a world treasure by "Rain Dogs". I could go on...

If you remember Fernwood Tonight, and you liked it, then Google tom waits fernwood tonight and watch his very funny visit all those years ago.

When I first heard it coming from a studio down the hall, I thought somebody had a new (post mortem) Captain Beefheart album.:scratch2:

I like it. We must be about the only station around that's playing it.
Tell me you can't picture it playing over the closing credits of True Blood...

I could not, as I didn't know what True Blood is/was, no HBO @ my house.

I am liking it more with each listen.

I have seen him twice, the man does a great live show! I rarely dismiss anything on first listen.

I like it.More of the Tom Waits from yesteryear. Pure manical genius.

After one listen, I'd agree. More real singing by Mr. Waits. The guitar on Chicago, the opening track, was outstanding, and I had forgotten about Keith Richard's involvement. The sound quality, to my ears, appeared a bit echoey. But I'm sure its a deliberate technique.
