Nice looking! Orion says 1978 - 1980, 50 WPC.

John

Hi,

Thanks for the information. 50 watts is plenty for the area here. The sound is ok but not great. DC offset is 25 mV, a little high for this, I have to take it again.:scratch2:

Thank you for your help as usual.

I have a Toshiba SA-725 (25Wx2). Like it alot. Toshibas are very underated. They are well built units.

At 1st glance i saw SX-780. The knobs and flip switches are lined up the same mostly. Nice looking.

yay!

Wow, I thought I was the only one with Toshiba receivers.
I found a 420 and 320 in the last year.
Beautiful units.
Not real powerful and seem to lack the "punch" of other units in their size range.
Big boxes though. Maybe one size fits all?

I sold many of these receivers back in the 70s. They were _very_ competitively priced against the Pioneers, Marantz, etc, had similar styling and were quite reliable.

This was the perfect alternative for many buyers. Toshiba, however, suffered from some brand recognition due to their bread-and-butter products at the time were clock radios and other small consumer electronics sold through Kmart and other discount stores. This, along with limited advertising in the audio magazines of the day, was one of their biggest brand-recognition problems. This had nothing to do with the quality of the product - only the perceptions.

Cheers,

David

i had one of these a few years ago..which was very nice looking but unfortunately had some damage to a circuit board at the rear due to rough handling by the delivery company and probably bad packaging..

I spent days tracking down the problem and got it fully working again. Its a nice little unit..and lights up a treat in the dark.
Its not especially powerful and probably best used with efficient speakers..but as far as i know the unit (which i donated as a present) is still working well.
The tuner section needed a good outdoor aerial though to lock onto some fm stations.
enjoy

Thanks, I have not opened it up yet to see what lamps are burnt out. It does have a massive transformer though!

Thanks,
