Pilot's really nice stuff! The 240 has rather smaller output transformers than the 232 or the 245, which are generally considered more desirable units. However, I suspect the 240s no slouch, either. Hard to go wrong with EL84s!

I value my Kenwood at about $120. Is that in the ball park for the Pilot?

I'd do it in a heartbeat too! I've had lots of Pilot tube units, never had a bad one...just my .02$ RA in NY

as EW has said in the past eBay practically runs on used KA-7100s. If you've got a hankerin to try some tubes, you might give it a shot! (Just make sure you get to have a good listen to it first...a tube replacement could easily knock this deal way out of whack

Thanks for the input. I come across a lot of so-so ss receivers but not much tube stuff. I love deals like this. The guy I'm trading with has some 20-35 WPC receivers and wanted something a little bigger. I've got a new found fondness for tube stuff so everybody's happy!

Did The deal and I'm very happy. So is the other guy. As far as "Dollars and Sense" goes, I probabably came out on top but that's not the point. i discussed this with the other party and as long as we both got what we like, all is well.
