2SD669 -> KSC3503 (output coupled thermal regulator in marantz 2245 and 2270)
2SC1060 -> KSD526 (output drivers)
2SC1175A -> KSC1845 (phono section, Marantz 2325)

Guys, you need to make a correction or two:

2SA1050 is a PNP and the replacement is MJ21193

2SC2460 is a NPN and the replacement is MJ21194

You have those backwards in the list. I know, because I found out the hard way :p

Thank you Mark!

Yep.. Rott's going to have to do another update if he didn't catch it.
How many transistors did you fry ?

Not that hard of a way. The wrong replacements seem to have survived; the dim-bulb tester kept the amp from committing seppuku.

Hi Mark, the last two trannies in your list are junction reversed (PNP vs NPN)

should be like:

2SC2460 —> MJ21194G (NPN)
2SA1050 —> MJ21193G (PNP)

I updated the main list

I would like to add that MJs are not exact replacements for the above 2SA/2SC transistors, as the MJs have much lower bandwith (4Mhz vs 70Mhz). Some amp designs, as far as I know, may require similar bandwidth.

True that!
They just don't make 'em like that anymore.
Same goes for the cob. Not sure what the SA/CA cob was, but the MJs are in the 500.

It goes without saying that this list is for reference only. Additional research is needed for each application/design, when picking a substitute.

And I might add..New TO-3 transistors are pretty slim pickens . So you take what you can get.
