TT Mats..

Hi Analog fans,

I made a new mat for my AR-XA, felt material, bright colors available..They are selling these for $15.95. Cost me $1.00 at Micheals Arts and Crafts. What is the difference I wonder?:scratch2:

All kidding aside, I like the cork Ring Mat's.

Is that felt or foam? I made a red one from their thin foam and really couldn't discern any difference in sound from my stock mat. But it's a nice change and colorful. Also it would be handy for varying the VTA.

The art type felt that Micheal's carries is not real felt but a synthetic version (nothing wrong with that for all I know it might be better!)

I have thought about trying the thin art foam load knows I use enough of it for other things. So far I have been using the thin cork mat that came with my Pro-Ject RM-5 table (they also include a thin black felt) I guess I just haven't got around to trying something different yet. I have been thinking about putting some thin carpet tape under the mat to hold it in place so the static isn't always pulling it up.

It is a Synthetic type of felt looking material, it is a little stiffer than conventional felt. Less static cling. The cork Rings looks nice too.

I've been wondering about mats ever since I picked up my "new" AR EB 101. Right now it has "The Platter Mat"

It's so thick I can't use a clamp.

How many folks spike their table? And, 3 or 4?

Mother's Mag & Aluminum Polish, works great! with a little elbow grease.

My 'table has 3 spikes.....er, cones, actually. Pointy things, at any rate.

Thanks for the great idea. So simple I missed it. I'm going to try diff weights of paper cut to platter size/shape, under the mat.

Four spikes.

Sure beats the stock cheap rubber feet, and buying them from Parts Express was a good call over the insanely priced ones available from VPI...that probably do the same thing...
