My Freya + is here, installed in my main system using their LISST tube substitutes and sounding great right out of the box--can't wait until my tubes arrive Friday.
I disagree. I didnt find the 5500 to be soft compare to my previous amp. What do you mean "soft"?
@highend64: even after re-capping and restoring our 5500 to original specs with no modifications, I haven't found the low bass to have as much transient punch as our restored/updated 555 IIs, or several of our other amps with the same power output. I'm comparing our 5500 to 3 555 IIs, Sony TAN-80-ES, Adcom 585LE, Yamaha PC-2002M, and Forte Model 3.
The LF is definitely there, but not as fast and punchy, with the exception of the Forte, our tube mono blocks, and one or two other amps we have.
