You should read the "6sn7 shootout" in the Vacuum Tube Valley magazine article. It gives a very good listing of many 6sn7 types and a rating according to the preferences of the reviewers. But, how a particular tube sounds in your preamp and according to your ears and system maybe totally different. So, it is best to try a variety. Be aware that used tubes can be problematic since as tubes age their sound quality can also deteriorate. My perennial favorite continues to be the 5692, but that one is usually around 60 each.
