Tuners?

2 at this time

Akai AT 2600 in silver 5 FM gangs 3 AM

Technics ST C01 3 FM gangs 2 AM

Both are in really nice shape and close to perfect any flaws are on case not face .
I paid 50 buckz for the Akai and 5 buckz for the Technics =) .
I would love a Sansui TU 7700 if I found one at a disgustingly low price mint =0 .
and maybe a Toshiba AT F15 for dirt cheap if I run across one .

MusicOnly- My Sansui is a TU-D99X which sounds good for the stations it picks up. Odd, the University here, 5 miles from my house (hilly terrain), has two stations. The one I listen to most offten NPR/PRI, it does not get, yet right next to it on campus and on the dial is the student station. I sounds great for that.

Great score. Cheers. I am still waiting to see if I can repair my Rotel RT 1080 so I am sitting on my hands for tuner shopping. Glad you got a good one. kc

My trusty AKAI AT 2600 and a small funky TECHNICS ST C01 .

Plan to buy a vintage receiver soon so it will be 3 tuners if you count receivers.

My man in San Jose for all electronics work is Norm at Sertech Electronics just off Blossom Hill Road near Oak Ridge Mall, and behind the miniature golf and water slides - (408) 267-3288.

He is great at diagnosis and repair and for tuner alignments. He also can do solid work on recapping, having a good bit of experience and usually goes with Panasonic FCs and FMs but will order and install whatever you like.

He doesn't try his hand at modifications beyond small stuff like adding an F-connector. For re-engineering a unit, he will follow your specific directions for modifications but in general holds to a conservative philosophy of "If it ain't broke, don't fix it."

I may have replied already......hope not =)

Akai AT2600 .
5FM gangs 3AM gangs , analogue , meters , variable muting , well built .

Technics STC01 .
3FM gangs 2AM gangs , analogue , small , well built , gold plated everything .

both are groovy .

Carver TX-8R on main system
Sangean HDT-1 (HD-FM) on main system
Coby HDR-650 (HD-FM) on bedroom system

Yamaha T-1
Yamaha T-2
Yamaha TX-950
I also have some stereo receivers with the built in tuners, I really enjoy my Marantz 2252B, just dig that one. Also have a NAD 7100

I have 2 tuners at present, but I plan to expand the family. :-)

Luxman T-117
Akai AT-K11

The Akai is a very basic tuner, maybe only 3 gangs, but sounds very musical. I bought my Luxman from Germany and Im not that impressed, after hearing so much praise for it. Maybe needs some work inside ? Maybe my amp is playing a part, but I have a newly purchased Sony TA-F770ES amp winging its way to me so this will open the Luxman sound a little no doubt.

Pioneer SX3900.....bought it new (@ wholesale for $375 straight off the docks...lucky me @ the time w/my Pacific Stereo connections.. hehe) back in '80 & it's still kicking strong....albeit its' had 1 tune-up approx 10 yrs ago for no reason other than to ensure it continues on for another coupla decades...which I'm quite confident it will. I've had 2 JBL 65's (the glass tops w/the 12' woofs) which have done me just fine for over 3 decades now. Tho I sure wish the Pioneer would run the JBL's thru the 50' Samsung DLP....tphhfftt!! Then again, I suppose it finally puts me back in the receiver mrkt for the 1st time in 30+ yrs.

Yamaha CT-410 (simple and good quality)
Yamaha CT-610 II (a step up from the 410 - very precise meters)
Yamaha CT-800 (broke and may not be able to fix it!)
Yamaha CT-810 (great attenuation features and meters)
McIntosh MR77 (gotta love that classic Mc look!)
Arcam T-51 (very functional, has a few quirks but pulls in a great signal with very little antenna to work with)

I just picked up a Luxman T-230 owned by my late father in law, brought over from Hong Kong in the 80's. Guessed it was never used. Light was real dim when powered on, so paid a shop to rewire to 110W. Thought it will work fine but there are 2 problems. Since it was from HK, the am steps are 9KHz not 10KHz so can't tune in anything. The other is that the 'down' button doesn't work, but that be worked around.

Any advice on how set the am steps to N. American standard of 10KHz? Thanks guys!

I have a McIntosh MR78 and a Polk Audio 'Reference' XM tuner. The MR78 sounds great, on the one station worth listening to in my area. The XM tuner sounds surprisingly good, depending on what station is tuned in and whether or not the programmer has the sound spectrum adjusted to suit Ipod listeners. Most jazz programming sounds fantastic on it.

Apparently no one has any advice :(

I took it to Innovative Audio in Surrey, BC to have it look at. The owner, Gordon Sauck was very helpful and worked on it immediately. Unfortunately, the frequecny cannot be altered but he did a tune-up for me to bring the FM reception back to normal. A true pro!
