Tunes at work: what gear are you running?

I work in the maintenance department at my plant. Most days, I spend several hours in front of a computer monitor, sourcing parts, creating documentation, scheduling maintenance work, etc. Even though I love my work and geeking around with technology, it can drag on sometimes.

Well, I had this cool Rebel cabinet sitting in the corner of my kitchen at home, totally underutilized. It is a Klipsch design, loaded with University and EV drivers. It is too nice to put in the garage, and since it is a mono cabinet, I decided that it would work very well for background music at work. Here it is, with a very nice Yamaha CR-450 on top. I am currently listening to NPR - it already has made a difference. I can also plug in tunes from my mp3 player, or the sound card from the computer. Very convenient! I think I have something like $50 into the system.

What are you running at work?

Sorry for the poor picture. My cell phone takes bad pictures inside.

My office setup...not at home...Sansui 8080 receiver, Rek-O-Kut B12h Turntable, AR7 speakers. Macintosh computer digital music server.

Tivoli I radio. Excellent sound and reception for the nearfield. My home office is another story.

Nice speaker there, Tens.

My office rig is a Dynaco SCA-35 feeding a pair of Celestion DL8 Series Two. Source right now is iPod only, I'd like to get a tuner in here. I don't think I'll ever bother with a turntable in my office as I'd stop getting any work done at all.

In the lab:
Luxman RX-102 receiver
Luxman KX-101 cassette deck
Technics single disc CD player

Cube:
MCS 3253 receiver
Denon DR-M10 cassette deck
JVC XL-V333 CD player

No speakers allowed here, I listen with Sennheiser HD580 headphones.

At work here's a typical system in my office,

McIntosh 2105 Power Amplifier
McIntosh C 26 Preamplifier
McIntosh MR 74 FM/AM Tuner
Technics SP-10 Mk II Motor Unit with SME 3012 Series II Improved Tonearm and Stanton 681 EEE-S II cartridge
Otari MX 5050 B II Open Reel deck
JBL 4311b Control Monitor Speakers
Studer CD Player
Tascam CD-RW 900 SL CD Recorder
Automation PC with AudioScience sound card and BSI WaveCart and Simian. Also has Adobe Audition 1.5

I am a broadcast engineer and PD. So I need a better than average office stereo system at work.

I find it difficult to concentrate on work with music going, and vice versa. I've tried headphones and all, but phone rings, people come to discuss/review things, etc., etc., etc. More hassle than benefit for me. Clearly YMMV.

Sansui Eight receiver.
Fostex RM765 nearfield monitors (they have about a 6" driver with coaxial tweeter..I love these speakers).
Computer as source.

I work even when I'm sleeping (hehe)... so whatever's on between 3 systems, a boombox and a clock radio, all of which get used every day. Man that's an awesome piece of furniture/audio loudspeaker. If it sounds as cool as it looks, I'd go for a mono rig anyday. Yessiree.

Klipsch RF7's, Quad 22L2's and Gallo reference 3.1's powered by a Parasound Halo P3 & A23 combo.

I work in a HiFi shop! :)

Computer source>Yamaha CR 620>Sansui AS-100 speakers.

Low volume. Either a "Bill Evans" Pandora station or streaming Dead shows.

Qinpu Q-2 tube hybrid headphone amp
Toshiba SD-2900 DVD player
ATH-AD700 headphones.

I work in a cubicle & I don't think my coworkers want to listen to what I like...

We got a generic receiver, with speakers in the ceiling. it's a grocery store. but the best part is that we have Muzak!!!! 50's 60's Hits playing all day :D

I worked in a grocery store for 5 years until finally I had control over the muzak. They actually had a station that would play Bowie. Ok, it was only "Golden Years" but it was Bowie. We'd DJ the Muzak later in the night, dedicating songs to shoppers.

I work in a machine shop so I listen to whatever I want and as loud as I want through my Sansa MP3 player with some nice Denon earbuds.

The machine I work on is the closest to the phone so I (by default) usually answer it. It usually goes like this:

Boss: "The phone is ringing"

Me: "What???"

Then he usually picks it up himself. It's always for him anyway so this is a great way to not have to be his secretary.:D
