Tung-Sol 7591's are being discontinued!

I sent NS a message as well and have yet to hear back. Seems to be a decent amount of stock still around on ebay and from other sources, but I'll be interested to see if they dry up in the next little while. My quad from Jim should be waiting for me at home after work. If they're enough of an improvement over the old EH I have been using, I may have to grab another quad for the future. Hate to spend that money on tubes I won't be using...

He said he's limiting it to two quads per customer, so Jim is taking it pretty seriously it seems.
 
New Sensor's webpage shows both the Tung-Sol and EH 7591s in stock. Hopefully they'll clarify things shortly.
 
Well these tung sol tubes sound awesome compared to the old EH tubes that came with my fisher. Need to dig up a few bucks in case they really are going to be discontinued. Driving some Heresys in my bedroom right now and loving it. The EH tubes I had were pretty worn out.
 
Well, I just heard back, and New Sensor told me they have not been discontinued but that they were just out of stock for a while since demand was so high! So that seems to be the opposite of what I heard from Jim, but I still wonder if there was some sort of hiccup in the manufacturing they had to sort out or something like that. Well, sorry for the false alarm. Glad they'll be around. They do sound very good.
 
Jim cut and pasted the text of the email he got from them in an email he sent me, it seemed pretty clear cut, and the word "discontinued" was definitely used.

Not sure who to believe here, but I probably ought to err on the side of conservatism.

He gave me the same quote from them that clearly said "discontinued", which is why I was pretty confident in posting. It's definitely worth keeping an eye on. Maybe they just changed their minds?
 
It's supply & demand. When more are needed they'll make more. Do you think the Russian's would pass up a chance to make money?? This whole thread isn't based on any facts... maybe alternative facts....

It's certainly speculation at this point. After hearing from Jim, who is a pretty reliable source, it seemed pretty certain. Maybe should change the exclamation point to a question mark in the thread title for now...
 
However, We didn't hear from Jim. It was someone who had a conversation with him. Jim is also a salesman & needs to make sales. This whole thread will generate sales.... a good sales trick.???

Sales trick? Really?

Jim's an honorable, ethical, and extraordinarily helpful guy. The best person to deal with if you're buying new tubes or need parts for rebuilding Citation and Mac gear. He wouldn't knowingly make a false statement to drum up sales. (Especially when it would be easily verified.) That's a short term gain with a whole lotta long term downside.

If he said that's what they told him, I believe it... and him. Possible that he got misinformation? Sure. We'll see soon enough.
 
If there is demand for the 300B, which I also use, I don’t see why there wouldn’t be a descent demand for the 7591. So many vintage amps and receivers still around that use them and some instrument amps. I only buy two 300B’s at a time. I have to buy four 7591’s for each piece I own that uses them.
 
I emailed Jim, and he is going to look into it with his contact. He has been great to deal with in my experience. He is extremely knowledgeable and has built a strong reputation that I think is well-deserved. The intent of this thread was to let AKers know that some very good new-production tubes may not be around for much longer. I'd suspect Russian tube suppliers of duplicity or misinformation long before I'd suspect Jim. When I hear something back, I'll post it here.
