What sort of repairs and mods are you thinking of? If you are reasonably handy, you might be the best person to work on your table -- no need to transport it, with all the danger that entails, and cheaper too. You might be able to get the advice needed to do it yourself if you lay out what your goals are.

I can contact you with two-

Dave, aka Grateful, who has fixed many an AKer's kit and is a good friend of mine, and Claudio, another AKer that comes highly regarded by a few close friends of mine who are AKers.

Grateful can be reached via me- shoot me a pm. Claudio can be reached here on AK but I can't recall his handle. You could PM AK member Soundweasel for his contact info.

Claudio is CLA6665 here on AK. PM him, he responds quickly. I have a Marantz 6200 he restored/refurbished. He does excellent work on TTs! :thmbsp:

Dave has also worked on several of my pieces (not TTs) but he is top notch in my book.

The folks at the Service Bench in Norwood worked on my TD145 with excellent results a few years ago.

Where is VinylNirvana PHYSICALLY located. I could very well be blind but for the life of me I couldn't find out where this person is operating from?
also....I heard that there is someone in NH that is supposed to be fairly skilled with Thorens and AR. is this the same individual / business or is there someone else that folks here might recommend? Or perhaps someone in Boston or surrounding city or towns?

Vinyl Nirvana is based out of Exeter, NH.

Dave's specialties are Thorens and AR belt drives.

Jamal, Dave is excellent to work with and does a great job on Thoren's tables. Overhauled my 166 for me. Since he is not far from me, I was able to drop off and pickup the table at his place.

I'm on it. I will try to get in touch with him today to sort out a day/time to drive up. I'll want to make the rounds and hit up some of the shops while I'm up in NH. There's always interesting stuff at AV Therapy and Fidelis and probably an item or 2 on CL that I'd consider checking out so it would be nice to jam a few things into the day while taking the trip out there.

Dave (vinylnirvana) went over my CJ Sonographe and put potted Denon 103 on it. Couldnt be happier. He does the work in his basement in Exeter. Most people ship things to him. I just drove over. I wouldnt consider bringing a turntable anywhere else IF I had one of the decks he likes working on (Thorens, CJ Sonographe, AR stuff). Otherwise I just go to the Garage in Cambridge to Audiolab. Nice guy. Vic is often on this site.

Dave came over to my house once to buy an AR that I was selling for a friend. He's a helluva nice guy.

Victor over at Audio Lab in Harvard Square is also a great tech and a good guy.

Well looks like Dave is no longer working on either of the models I'm trying to resolve so STS gets the TD124 and I'll contact someone else for the 126 MKII - I appreciate the referral but it ended up being a dead end. If I should end up with an AR , Maybe I'll get in touch with him on that one.
