Growing up in the 50's in Tacoma Wash, kid shows I watched was Brakeman Bill. As the name implies, he always wore a railroad engineer striped overalls and hat. Also we had J.P. Patches. Kind of a hobo clown....always pulling cartoons out of his "cartoon pocket".
 
Dark Shadows. Definitely twisted, though not really a kid's show. But I was a kid, and I watched it! :yikes:

(Had a heckuva crush on Lara Parker! :yes:)
 
We used to have John Zacherle dressed as a vampire hanging out with two ghouls. It was hilarious. He later became a DJ at Rock station WNEW-FM in New York and then hosted Chiller Theatre.

Gumby...a total acid trip caught on film. Holy Moley, was that show downright strange!
 
Gumby was awesome, as was The Rocky and Bullwinkle Show. My son was raised on a steady diet of Ren and Stimpy and Duckman. Imagine that.
 
As a kid in LA, we had Engineer Bill (wore striped overalls and engineer's hat) and he showed ok cartoons. But he had this cool game where an electric train struggled to push a weighted car up and over a steep length or track. On Channel 11 they had Sheriff John, who wore khakis and was super mellow. He'd sing a birthday song for kids (Put another candle on my birthday cake, I'm another year old today). Tom Hatten hosted a Popeye cartoon show and had a cool schtick. He would start with a "squiggle" on a piece of paper, then turn it into a really cool drawing.

The we moved to Bakersfield and they had a cheesy Shakey's Pizza Party show. If featured this geeky guy named George and a midget named Zippy (probably not his real name!). They had cheesy games like Unlock-a-lock and some roller ball thing.

In college, a friend and I set up our schedules so we had time to pick up a couple of six packs of Lucky Draft beer and make it to his apartment in time to catch the Three Stooges. Now that was quality entertainment!
 
Yes, I visit Ladmo's final resting place once in awhile since it is on my travel path to work.
I have a signed Aunt Maude Storytime book

I have the CD of Mike Condello's music also

They were way ahead of their time
 
what was that weird 70's show where the characters in costumes ran around in those 6 wheel amphibeous buggies. It was in the HR PuffNStuff genre. I always thought it was really creapy.

Googled it..."Banana Splits". Really creepy.

Growing up in Dallas-Fort Worth we had "Slam Bang Theater" with "Icky Twerp" on Ch 11, from 1955-1972. A distant second for me was "Mr. Peppermint" on Ch 8. Slam Bang Theater showed Three Stooges with original skits in between.

How the hell long have you lived in Phoenix? I've been here since '57 (sans a 10 year gap for school).
