Underrated turntables....Share Your Knowledge !!!!!

Many of the Denon that are not in the top class and highly sought after Denon are great. I have DP33F that is so well built, heavy and sounds solid as can be. Does it sing like my Marc Morin'd AR XB? Of course not. But it gives the PL 570 V1 a decent run for the money sound wise if not looks wise. Currently not in rotation but wish it were. Denon in early and mid 80's transferred a lot of the best technology down the line of their products.

These however a bitch get to get worked on due to odd auto features and servo arms. But worth the effort and typically found for well under $200 and often under $100.
 
A Hitachi HT-550. Free! My brother gave it to us. A gorgeous table in absolutely immaculate condition. A slight tweaking of the adjustable resistor and it is now holding speed perfectly. No other issues. Our backup table is a Dual CS-607 that I found at a thrift store for $12.00, sans cartridge. Put an Ortofon OM-10 on it, sounds great and operates perfectly.

A very nice turntable in its own right! Reports in other threads it was CEC-made. And the value of those is climbing substantially ... so perhaps not so underrated anymore?

Onwardjames ... I think that's a HT-500 you linked to.

Interesting perhaps that Hitachi was quite popular around this neck of the woods but I've rarely or ever seen locally the higher-end models. Perhaps whoever was selling them didn't carry the whole line?
 
One had to go to Japan to see the best that Htiachi were capable of. Even then, they released their best under the LoD banner.
 
Another vote for Technics Direct Drives. I'm not really a DD fan, see too many I can't fix, but I picked up a SL D2 for next to nothing with the intention of quickly flipping it. I've since become very fond of it's simplicity, heft, and smooth operation.
 
A surprice tt for me was a Pioneer PL 516X, bought it for a scratch, but it had quite a solid plinth and a reliable arm made my carts sing as my thorenses would.
Went on to the next happy player after a check up, a drip of oil, a belt and a cheap but decent cart ;-)

My Yamaha P350 that I bought new in the early 80's I think. I've only had to replace the belt once and repair the notorious hinges. I still have the original headshell adjustment guage. It's nothing much to look at but it still operates well after all of these years.

Denon DP series. All automatic features are convenient and stop you ruining your vinyl. Plus the awesome servo tracer arms. Quartz locked. Beautiful looking. Just great gear, not expensive either
 
Any of the Hitachi tables from back in the era the Ht550,the 660 anything like them are fantastic tables with low profile in the table world
 
May be some body already mention but ANY of the upper or top model SONY before bio tracer
Consumer version and professional use machines
