I'm wanting to replace tired old capacitor......I know nothing about about cap values or what to purchase. Need some help on exactly what to buy. Thx in advance.

It's a 5mfd cap rated for 50V. Going higher on the voltage is ok.
Not sure what the construction is, whether it's a non polarized electrolytic or a poly or film type.

I think that’s an oil impregnated paper cap or old paper in wax. It can be replaced with a non polar/bipolar electrolytic. A Dayton from parts express would be good enough. You probably don’t want a film type as it may change the sound a bit.

Might change the resistance a little, but doubt it matters. Should be a wonderful upgrade over that ancient cap.
