Anyone recognize this model of University Speaker? What type of drivers did they use typically?

Hi AV,

Man, that is a NICE looking Speaker! Do you have a pair or just the one ?
It's kind of hard to tell the Cabinets size from the pix but, I suspect the cabinet has a 12" Woofer, a Mid range Horn and Horn Tweeter as opposed to a single driver University Coaxial (such as the 12" 6201). AV, I would just pop the back off that puppy and take a look. Please take some pics and post. I own several University 12" 6201 Coaxial drivers and I very much enjoy their sound using a simple vintage MONO amp mostly listening to Classic Jazz. Please do keep us posted.

Regards,
SixCats!

Do the cab's say University or are they loaded with University drivers?

I have come across many University drivers but no speaker systems as such. Might just be what I have seen out there.

Sure look cool and I bet they sound pretty good too.

I had a cabinet luke that at one time- as I recall it was solid plank wood!!

Mine had no drivers in it so I converted it to a large center channel- tunred out nice!

Good luck with yours

I can pick up the pair and the measurements are 29" X 20" X 18" if that helps any. I'm trying to find out if I can get a pic of the back panel or even one with the back panel off to show the guts but I'm waiting to hear back.

Yeah, it was time for a signature change and I love the movie "Blazing Saddles". I'm going to try to remember to update my sig quote every couple of weeks with a new quote. Thanks!

Hey AV, do a sig on the campfire scene......HA!!
DC

Yeah...that's a great scene but there would be no way to replicate that scene with words! You just have to "hear" it! haha. The only real lines are when someone asks, "can we have some more beans Mr Taggart?" and Slim Pickens says, "I'd say you've had enough."

Hijak continuation, believe it ot not alot of homes down here do not have A/C they have swamp coolers, don't work for crap when the humidity shoots up and it's 100 outside, 90 at midnight. So this dude get's the great idea to start playin Blazing Saddles at mid-nite like the Rocky Horror show to a run down(now out of business theater) well when the girls got up to reinact the Madeline Kahn(RIP:tears:) scenes from the barroom it warmed up real quick, very creative folks showed up some probably had real guns for my fav. scene with Cletus,Hey this is the west:D

Here are some more pictures of the speakers that I could get. Maybe this helps a little. It's not like I need another pair of speakers since I have about 6 pairs I need to move. But, I kinda like those cabinets.

Maybe the 15" given the size of the enclosure is what I am hoping for. I just have to decide if I want to make the 2 hour round trip to get them. And maybe pick up a pair of Cornwall II's on the way back....decisions, decisions. I have too much to do around the house this weekend to be chasing speakers! :D

Wow! That presence control looks like an art deco style, and that sure looks like solid plank to me! I wish all equiptment came with a program distortion filter!!

Yep....already saw that page and bookmarked it. They had some pretty cool plans, too. I always appreciate your input, mhardy. Thanks!

So are they worth getting for the drivers alone? Do they sound good? Maybe I could find somewhere to use those speakers in the house somewhere.
