Unusual rca bigger magnet then driver ?

The magnet on their looks bigger because that is what's known as a magnetically shielded speaker
They were used in a galaxy far far away a long time ago when are television sets yes we used to call them since used what is known as the cathode ray tube as the main picture tube that's what we look at and saw the picture

In any event, when a speaker was put close to a cathode-ray tube, the magnetic field of the speaker would distort the picture and cause the color to beat. So you would have blotches of color on the screen that would then have to be removed by a process called degausing the picture tube

As can be seen in one of your pictures there is an additional magnet glued on the outside of the main magnet

This magnet has reversed magnetic polarity due to the main magnet of the speaker and is used to cancel or reduce the extra magnetic field of the speaker so as Not to cause an issue when it is close to a CRT

Whoops sorry hit post before

Oh yeah I used to have one of those TVs like 12 years ago or something... I see so it’s still a cheap speaker just extra magnets? I may test it out again sometime but the Sony 2-3 way bookshelf's won out.

Not just TV's, any kind of magnetic media or the devices that read it. Cassette decks(not just cassettes, but all decks that use magnetic tape), VCR's, floppy discs and drives, etc., none of them like powerful stray magnetic fields.

I kinda wonder if we're not being trolled in some warped way.

Maybe add shilled to that too

His username, if anyone has wondered is a play on, or more plausible a spelling error (U is next to I on QWERTY keyboards), a sub woofer called the "Ultimax" made by Dayton Audio which I believe is a house brand for Parts Express. They are both located in the same town, same street outside/nearish to Dayton OH.

He's obsessed with speakers, subwoofers as that is primarily what he has posted about since he joined AK

Interestingly there was an AK'er by the name of @ultimax who joined on June 11th 2015 yet never posted once and hasn't been seen since. Another thing is @ultumax was dormant from Dec 2014 and reappears on June 13th 2015.

Maybe someone at or associated with PE and or Dayton Audio having some fun here on the boards.

His spelling, punctuation etc was somewhat more fluent and coherent back when he joined in 2013 not sure if he's purposely misspelling and making no sense along with all the unnecessary pictures and memes .
