Hey Neil...where exactly in Atlantic Canada do you live? I may swing by and check out the trash at that thrift store!!

Woofer pop out shots !!!!!
The cab that housed this woofer has been in what looks like a flooded basement and the bottom of the cab has some water damage ( the insides look fine)
But the coating on the rear of the cone seems to have become a little darkened in parts because of the damp.....oh well cant be helped....
And before anyone suggests a re cap......its not happening right now....i can just about afford the re foam at the moment !!!!!

Yeah. Ive found my CVs where its usually dry. Found my M&K sub/sats there too. Few and far between but what shows up there (when i do find it )is usually good!
Not quite as good as those JBLs though!

In a word........i love them.........
They are the best sounding speakers i have ever had....my Technics SU-V909 amp is providing the current wit great finesse........and Terrys expert refoaming is a joy to behold,the woofers are as good as new !!!!

Hi budget, yes indeed they do sound sweet......and they have BASS !!!!
Real tight controlled BASS !!!!!!!!

Once you get good JBLs there is no going back. IMO you'd have to spend several grand on Thiels, Martin Logans, or B & W 802s or the like to do better. Late 70s through 80s JBLs are the sweet spot between excellent sound and reasonable price for me, and even more so for you for free of course.
