What is a fair value for Vandersteen 2ce signature speakers with stands? Approx 15 years old. Thanks.

$700 to $1000 seems to be the E bay rates .. What one gets them for at a local private sale could be $1 to ...

I see them all the time in the $400 range, and sometimes even a bit lower.

Correct! In the referenced ebay listing, the effective price to the buyer was $485...which is on the high side for the 2CE (non-signature version) without stands.

Yep. But just to be clear, I wasn't criticizing the shipping price....probably pretty reasonable, given their size and weight. I was just pointing out that when comparing local price to ebay price, the ebay price should include the shipping cost.

If I found a pair of Vandy 2CE's in good shape locally for $300, I would snap them up and re-sell them! OK, maybe not, given the hassle involved...but anything less than $500 would be a "scroe"!

Definitely worth trying out, assuming you can get them for a price that allows resale without loss if it turns out you don't like them.

I find most people seem to like them quite a bit when they hear mine, but online commentary would suggest that they are perhaps more polarizing than many other high-end speakers (strong opinions at both ends of the spectrum).

I will say that the later the version, the more dynamic they sound (to me). I had 2Ci's for many years, and was sometimes frustrated by how "wooly" they sounded. On the other hand, I kept them for almost 20 years!

The 2Ce's were a bit more forward in the midrange and more detailed, the Signature versions were more so, and the Signature IIs are the most so. Only my opinion, of course...others may feel quite differently about them.
