Same here. IMO, paying $25 annually for a subscription is not unreasonable to visit here ad free for a year. Especially for those that come here often.

No, sorry, I just ran into the "click ad to continue" thing and it's not happening. I don't know what the deal is, but this is the second site I use that's suddenly overrun with ads. I don't mind a reasonable number of well placed ads, but this is just stupid. If the trend continues, I'm so out of here.
[edit] I asked Copilot about the recent increase in ads on various sites. The answer was longer than I'd copy here, but was very interesting. Apparently, a corner has been turned and forums as we've known them may be a thing of the past unless the owners focus on more than revenue stream.

Up to a certain point, it is the revenue stream that keeps the place alive...it must be focused on to some degree.
If you are going to be 'out of here,' that is a good signal that the content is not worth 25 bucks a year to you, so your decsion will be the answer.
At what price point would you find value to be here? I am curious.

The Admins COULD get rid of this "click ad to continue". There is absolutely no value in the content and it is not increasing revenue, especially if people abandon AK as a result. But, apparently, they are not interested in fixing it or black listing that particular advertiser (if anyone can even figure out who it is from the ad).
I value my privacy, and desire an interruption free browsing experience, any attempts by any Ad provider to force me to look at their nonsense will be met with equal and opposite force.
If I am unable to keep the Ads out of my life, the sites that allow them in will be ignored, it's as simple as that.

That alone could be the reason you are having issues. Companies do weird stuff with web browsing at times that isn't always obvious to the end user. Such as using Zscaler to filter internet access and could essentially block or malform certain resources.
Do you have this same issue on your personal computer at home, tablet, phone, etc?

This site is certainly worth $25/year to me - and let's remember,
they do have bills to pay too.
(and I use the Brave browser too).
People shouldn't have to subscribe just to be free of Ads. They lose out on Barter Town, the ability to edit threads and thread titles of things they post. If you aren't logged in, and find this sites content by a Google search, you don't get to see large pictures, which is good. You want to participate? Register for the site. You want to create and edit content? Become a subscriber. I just don't see why non-subscribers, but registered members have to put up with these Ads.

I see it and am a subscriber. It's always there. I just don't care as it's an option to click on it. I believe these are AK vendors who pay for that status to be able to promote their business. It's quite a bit more than the measly $25 to be a subscriber and SO worth it!
