S23 here and use Edge browser. I've not taken any special measures that I know of, not a subscriber, and apparently don't have the ad problems either. I'd say 95% of my forum activity is done on the phone.

I have an S23 Ultra and use Vivaldi's browser. It does a great job with ads. Brave is another very good browser to use for phones and PCs for privacy and ad control.S23 here and use Edge browser. Sorry BUT NO AD served at a reputable site should offer crapware,malware etc to be installed.
And you guys saying install ad block , use a different browser are missing the issue that this stuff is in effect borderline malware.
I wish someone from the site would at least indicate what is being done to get rid of this crap.
And I love the mods , owners and most of you guys. I don't like calling people out and its a last resort.
But this is a SERIOUS issue.
Stop it with the workarounds. Yes they are helpful but again missing the 800 pound Gorilla in the room.

I have no problem with AK (or just about any other website having ads on their pages, as long as the ads do't get in the way of the content.
Your message is that this place isn't worth subscribing to, which is fine, but a bit of a bummer.
"I won't pay, and I won't tolerate ads." How should we subsidize your 'participation?'
In the case of the "View ad to continue" nonsense, it's getting in the way. Big time.
AK's ad revenue depends, no doubt, on the number of eyeballs/ad. If enough eyeballs leave, or don't come by as often, or for as long, it will impact AK's revenues.
The other thing I'm not impressed with lately: the length of time it takes a page on AK to fully load. I only have so much time to spend at my peecee, I won't spend a lot of it waiting.
Or I could just be a grumpy old guy.

That "click to enter" type ads and similar will be looked into.
Subscribers should be seeing few, if any, ads, other than the fixed Vendor/Sponsor ads in the sidebar, at the top or bottom of the page, and away from the forum discussion content. AK tries to make the ads non-intrusive but the content delivery needs monitoring, hence that ad-specific sticky thread referenced above ^^^.
Please understand, AK does what it can to make the experience here as engaging and helpful as possible, along with the ability to access AK for free. However, there are considerable associated costs with running a website like this. Subscriptions and contributions are excellent support and greatly appreciated but are insufficient alone - and attempting to finance AK on subscriptions alone with the current subscriber base would require a significantly higher subscription cost. The advertising provides members a path for free viewing and access.

That ad is apparently related to some sports site access; nothing to do with subscribing to AK. Remember, AK is free to access; however, if you would like to subscribe to help support this site, you can use the Subscribe link at the top of the forum or the larger Audiokarma Subscriptions link in the AK Links section of the forum.

The fact that an ad is advertising less ads for some who knows what place ? Its annoying and actually trying to pull people away from AK.
Not a big leap to see a ad for a competing site advertising less ads than AK being served UP to AK members.

More likely the time consuming work on site migration, bot fighting, site rescuing (Heritage site), updates, etc., on all of AK's related sites. With the prior caching issues, it seems sometimes the alerts didn't all get through, so it's possible it was missed or overlooked in the list of priorities. Not perfect but doing what they can to get there. If you don't get quick responses there is always the messaging system, so please feel free to contact any of the staff directly. Thanks again

Well, it is a BUSINESS for the owners, not a charity. You contributed no money to their start-up, and years later, for a measly $25 a year, you don't become a stockholder.
I like most of the folks here, have gained good knowledge from folks who shared info here, and like to spend some time each day here.
FWIW, I am a volunteer Moderator - not an investor or stockholder of any kind.
So as a Super moderator you aren't compensated financially or in kind in any way? That is generous

Looked into? does that mean you are all aware of them as problematic and are looking to have them removed? The user comments I've seen that have weight seem heavily leaning into this particular issue. If staff is working to get them removed, that is about all I would need to know.
I'm a subscriber, they don't affect my use of Audiokarma, but those types of ads are unacceptable on most any website to me and some likely have malware, etc which is even more problematic.
I understand Audiokarma is a for profit business and have no issues with that fact, nothing wrong with making a buck. Still as a user on issues like the 'click to continue' ads a little transparency would go a long way.
From what I have gathered on here over the years is that none of the Moderators are paid, it's all volunteer.
That was my general understanding too though some moderators, not this one, are also staff members, those I assume are financially compensated. I just wondered if the other moderators received anything 'in kind' or whatever as I'm sure it's somewhat time consuming and sometimes a hassle. the comment also seemed a bit condescending but I get that too, the internet can be less than fun sometimes.
Don't know. I don't think staff compensation has ever been discussed.
