I have come across these speakers and am told they are Martins, but there is no model info anywhere on the cabinet. Wondering if anyone might have an idea as to what they are by looking at the pic?
This isn't conclusive, but I'm thinking not, for a few reasons. I pulled up a bunch of pics of Martin speakers on Google image search, and found:
They all had flat, not framed baffles
Grain of veneer on baffle was always vertical
Didn't find any woofers with pleated surrounds
Based on the horizontal wood grain, the lack of grill fasteners, and the fact that the tweeters don't exactly fit their holes properly, I'm going to suggest that these might be DIY.
BTW, I tried to eliminate Martin-Logan from my search by adding -logan but Google picked some up anyway.
I'm not sure what they are, but I do not believe they are Martin speakers. Could be anything really. Pull the back off and look at the driver's if the owner will let you to get some clues. Welcome to the AK forum!
There is/was also a company in Florida called Martin-USA that makes speakers, predominantly designed as studio monitors. But they don't look like that and are usually branded pretty heavily, and had square trim rings on the drivers. I'm not sure how much they are actually doing these days.
A fair point, but I'm still looking for a professionally-built loudspeaker with the veneer grain parallel to the floor (assuming the speaker wasn't meant to be placed on its side).
Just sharing more info on Martin speakers since very little can be found on the internet. I included photos of the back of my Gamma 1500 S and a link to another thread I started long ago where others have posted. My woofers do have the treated accordion type surrounds as do the "Exorcist" model and can be seen in the other thread.
