Walnut Plinth for SL-1200

That's beautiful!

I had a look at this from my phone earlier and was wondering how the 'drop-in' worked. I was thinking maybe a cut-out in the bottom, but I see that back piece now.

Is that one of those metal cosmetic top plates I see on eBay? They look decent but with the wood surround I think it looks way better.

Very nice work! I really like the complimentary angles between the amps and the TT base. Did you make the amp bases too?

Thanks, everyone! Yes, I made the amp bases and the cabinet, too. And the preamp (see my links on page 1). The top plate of the turntable has been powdercoated.

Zonker the whole setup you fabricated is a work of audio art, the choice of the equipment stand also reflects your excellent taste and design. If there ever was an example for what to do for WAF this has to be it.

Ah, that's so nice of you to say! I show it to my friends and their wives and they are very enthusiastic (a lot of them drop hints about how I should make stuff for them :D), yet my wife seems completely unimpressed by the whole rig. :saywhat: She's like, "Oh, that's nice." Oh, well; at least I dig it. :D

Thanks! Yeah, I do have some eBay decals to replace it (albeit not quite as nice as silk-screening), but I haven't put them on yet. Thanks for reminding me!

nice touch with the mono blocks.

That is beautiful work you did. Thanks for sharing. :thmbsp:

NEVER get tired of seeing other peoples' work.

wow.

puts the stock M3D plinth to complete shame.

Uber-improvement; the whole system has an aesthetic synergy.

Inspiring.

AWESOME!
You know, that's going to make an awful lot of hi-end turntable rigs look shabby in comparison.
