I remember in late May 1987 they opened for Billy Idol at the old CNE grandstand. Ian Astbury had moved with his parents as a kid to Hamilton and grew up there before moving back and iirc because of CanCon they broke in Toronto first in NA with Love. So as a thank you to Toronto they played a free gig in a club in Yorkville the next night. Can't remember how we managed to get the free tickets but what a great show. Astbury even got his Dad up on stage:D

I knew Ian had Canadian connections...wasn't quite sure of the circumstances.

Oh yeah you did great. The second rule is "If it's Beethoven, buy it". Mozart is always a pretty safe bet as well, but I prefer Beethoven.
I always look to see if there are any credits for baritone, or soprano or whatever vocals...if there are I probably don't buy it because I don't generally want to hear vocals in my classical music.

It's a known fact that Kip Winger has written classical music.
He's actually quite talented. I just wish he hadn't tried his hand at ahem, "heavy metal".

I actually refrained from mentioning that he has written pieces for ballets...i know how talented the guy is.
And just for the record, they were never a metal band.
Hard rock, yes.
Metal, no.
Ironically, i know a few die hard prog guys that love the band...their later material reflected that side of their musical palette.

It is interesting to read this thread. We are all many people in one.......I'll go for Winger and the like, same as some others here who are obsessed with that band :) and then go for the violin and piano concertos other times too.

Gotta keep my nose out of most current events though.
