about to desolder and hopefully fix a Loudness toggle that doesn’t want to stick on a Pioneer SX-3600 that otherwise works perfectly so I’m crossing my fingers that the little spring inside the switch is just not in its proper place

Nice record & receiver. Good luck with the switch. I recall Pioneer selector switches being a weak point on the older SX-1050 series I used to own. Had to disassemble all of them and clean the metal contacts for them to make a reliable connection.

'1974 A.D.' by Ted Neeley. A RCA 1974 used vinyl pick-up. Never heard of him but being a $2.50 record not really a gamble. This is actually a good record.
For fans of The Eagles, Poco and that sound from early '70s. He has a really excellent voice for sure.

Teddie Joe "Ted" Neeley (born September 20, 1943) is an American singer, actor, musician, composer, and record producer. He is known for portraying the title role in Jesus Christ Superstar (1973), a role for which he was nominated for two Golden Globe Awards and has reprised numerous times. Now there you go, you go, you learn something everyday.

Neeley considers himself a baritone, and is known for his extremely wide vocal range and rock screams—notably the G above high C (G5) in "Gethsemane (I Only Want to Say)" from Jesus Christ Superstar.

And Panther Pink at that. The most insanely smokin' color in the Mopar color pallet.
That one had managed to lose it's megaphone side exit tailpipes as seen here on a bone stock example.

A little known fact is that the T/A was going to be called the Trans Am, but Pontiac grabbed the name just before Dodge could copywrite it, and Pontiac didn't even have a car in the Trans Am racing series that the T/A was built to compete in.

I appreciate the input. I’ve got another Pioneer that I have to work on, an SA-610, that keeps having channel issues. It’s one with the selector belt things that I’m certain I had cleaned properly. Customer brought it back and said it played great for a few hours and then the right channel cut out again.
Still gotta dig deeper, but this other Pioneer is my priority because..well...I enjoy soldering

It can be quite satisfying once you button up a repair, I get that. And quite frustrating when it
comes back bad (!!)

My close friend of almost 30 years has an SX-1010 on his shelf with an intermittent output relay. I recall, from owning an SX-737 and 838, that the black pushbuttons can become filthy and send a loud, nasty noise spike through the system which trips the relay. I told him that we are going to change out all of those blue Sanyo electrolytics when we're in there too. I personally think the SX-828 was the best Pioneer I have heard. But hey these units really are getting old and need attention

It was a 70's thing down here too, GMH had a "Strike Me Pink" option in '72.

Replacing some of my favorite albums--this one was pressed in Germany from the original 1974 master tapes. "Packaging replicated to the finest detail." Well, I beg to differ unless the European version looked like this. The original had embossed text on the cover that made it unique, as you can see from my two original copies. But, the sonics are terrific. Joni's voice is right in front of you dead center like there's a dedicated center speaker. I always zero in on the hi hats which are like canaries in a coal mine in terms engineering. Get those right and everything else seems to fall into place. Not just the timbre, but the way they sit in the mix. These engineers knew what they were doing in the 70's, and if you can hear the hi hat pedal opening and closing without dominating the 4-6 khz region, that's a pretty good indication of the quality of the mix overall. Only issue I'm hearing is that the hats are right and the ride is left. Was John Guerin left handed? I'll have to check it against the original. Joe Sample, Crosby/Nash, Larry Carlton, Robbie Robertson, Tom Scott--L.A. Royalty at the time.
