and something I have been meaning to ask the thread, how much do you guys pay for used albums at a record store? there are a few antique markets around here and they seem to price every album off what a mint copy on ebay might go for, they want $40-50 for a early deep purple album in a condition I would pass on for 50 cents.

I've been actively buying records for so long I get them wherever I can find them. I never stopped buying lps when everyone went to cds. But have never found anything I actually want at a thrift store. So prices paid varies from free to up higher. I am not a fan of paying more than $50, but have many times, but it has to be a collectible 'rarity' when I do. So I've had records given to me & every price imaginable.

Records can be found everywhere. So garage sales, stores, conventions, antique markets, ebay, tons of internet sites. Hands down my favorite place has been in deals with other collectors, both buying and trading. And by trading I don't mean trading out of my collection but trading duplicates.

Standard Deep Purple records are so common that they should never be big money, though I did pay around $40 for clean UK pressings of MKI era Purple albums, that was locally so avoided the addon of international postage for those. They were worth it because the old American pressings of those lps sound like complete crap.
