What are you Listening To Right Now? - and more

I had a co-worker at a previous job who took his receiver, removed the outer case, and dumped the whole thing in a chlorothene bath to clean it ALL at once... and damned if it didn't work ok after! The chlorothene bath is hot, and used for degreasing parts of jet gyro cases and also electronics assemblies... ballsy move... lol :)
Well there's this , for about 4 years now he's been defying many peoples fear of mixing water and electronics though he doesn't recommend it he is yet to have a failure as a result , quite the opposite actually.

My ignorant widwestern azz had to look that one up . Looks tasty!
This is the place I am going today...their Sunday lunches are a local fave...

woke up with this burning my brain. had a look at the lift arm expecting to see a set screw in the side of the elevator to set the initial height. nope. there is a screw on top to hold it together.

looked at the service manual and saw that there were 2 springs inside so backed the screw out about a 1/2 turn and that raised the elevator about 1/16", still about a 1/16" from the lift arm when elevator is resting and stylus is on vinyl.

that little adjustment lifts the arm about an extra 1/8" . yay.

i don't know if it's enough to clear "houses of the holy' that album is ****ed up. wish i'd have noticed it before. way too late to return it. :(

just another of many letdowns of this turntable that was 'restored to factory conditions' .

all 4 feet were loose too. there's bare wire showing on the power cord. it's taped for now. will have to shorten it when i install cables.

when i install new cables i am going to have to take the time cut down a small screwdriver so i can tighten the headshell mount in the tonearm. need to get an eyeball on the lytics too. oh yeah, not enough adjustment up top for 45rpm so gotta adjust the course trimmer on the servo board.

restored my ass.

Well............... I wouldn't do it- residual water can hang around under components for weeks... I have to deal with this very often at work with equipment left out in the rain!

It was the first Yes LP i had when i was a kid and it's still my go to.The last one with Tony Kaye before he got the boot and Wakeman got the gig.I think i like it for it's relative simplicity compared to say Close to the Edge which i love for different reasons.:rflmao:
Agree. The Yes Album is epic and they were playing through the roof, Especially Steve Howe. Close To The Edge is a weird journey in a good way.

Tom Hiddleston (Loki, The Night Manager) did an interview with Men's Health.
He said "We were born to run".
I'm a hiker and a biker but I dislike running.
OTOH, I've loved this song since the first time I heard it.

The guy's in excellent condition.
