What audio goodies did you find today??

Well yesterday I got a call about my ad asking if anyone wanted to sell old tube amplifiers. A guy phoned who had a conn mono amp from an old organ.he wanted $50. I told him it was mono but I wanted to come and see it anyway.I've never seen a tube amp from an organ.When I got there I saw it but didn't want to pay $50. He could sense my reluctance so he said he had a harman kardon amp that was no good and a old test speaker he would throw in.I said yes.The organ amped worked fine but the solid state amp didn't.After a few hours I found part of the printed boead(metal foil)was burned off.I put a jumper in and it worked fine.I know! THIS TREAD IS WORTHLESS WITHOUT PICTURES. Oh yes,a picture of my new 604-8 altecs to be put in rosewood cabs:scratch2:

Found a minty pair of great sounding Sansui AS-100 speakers in Goodwill about 3 months ago. $9.98! I was just going to use them for the garage if they worked ok. After I hooked em up, just wow!! Cleaned em up, put some old english on the cabinets, and they are in the living room now...to stay! All I can say is...what a great sounding pair of speakers! You can listen to them all day and night and never tiring and nice bass and great treble! The bass speaker matched with the treble speaker is just a perfect (lovely) sound. Even a dog gets lucky every now and then! LOL :thmbsp:
 
Got a copy of the Beatles White album with the white vinyl and the pictures for free in very good condition.About fifteen lps in very good condition from the SA for $5.Someone gave up their collection that they took very good care of.Usually the thrift lps I have found were decent at best.Got there right as someone else got his picks.Oh yeah..both Cheech and Chong records from the 70's.
 
VA Systems Model 3 power amplifier. VA was started by frank van alstine, but he left by the time this came out (so says google search). I bought it because I thought it might be one of his designs. Well, it isn't and...I don't care! This is a superb sounding amplifier. I put it in place of my very nice if equally obscure RGR model 5 power amp, not expecting much, and it's now been playing for about 8 hours straight. Everybody at the store I got my RGR amp at was jealous of that amp. I got this amp at the same place, and it was dusty on a bottom shelf getting no respect. And..at least on my Dq-10s...it sounds better than my everyday amp, the RGR.

Cheers to buying obscure audio equipment on hunch, even if it isn't really a steal for what you paid for it (hey...store credit at my fav. store if I didn't like it...what's to lose?).

Not that there is much chance of running across one of these, but if you do snatch it up. Best midrange I've heard in a while. Warm but detailed with absolutely knock you on your ass bass.
