Of course the way you do it is best! I have to work with what I've got. Virtually all DIY projects I post are basic, and needing no, or very little knowledge of electronics. Sometimes I even used the headphone jack on the front to drive amps if needed.
THIS room is about as wrong as you can get for music! It is a seven foot by 15 foot by about seven and one half foot tall wood frame room I built in a 40 forty foot by 9 foot tall shipping container. Built to house my telescopes, so since I would be out very late often, I have a bed in here too. The 15" woofers (boxless) are mounted in the ceiling, at 2 corners, facing down, the backs open to the rest of the container. My bookshelf speakers, angled in and down towards where I sit at the computer, are used for mids and highs and placed in the corners about 2 feet below the woofers. Walls and ceiling are open 2 X 4s, with foam and foil backing on the back side. Bare wooden floor. Since there are no curtains, carpets or anything else soft (except my HEAD, some would say) in here but the bed, you would think the sound would be very bright...but it is not at all...I guess because of the open framing. Standing waves and reflections don't have a chance! LOL 65 wpc going to the bookshelf speakers, and 150 wpc going to the 15s. Actually sounds pretty good.
