My Spendor SP3/1P....Natural beauty and reality

My CSW Model Six....Fun but a wee bright,still fun though

My EPI 100...Good clean classic speaker,a little beamy

My Dynaco A-25...Very comfy,like a big sofa

My new to me AR93's....Need more time to feel these out however I really like what i'm hearing

Hales Rev. 3

Look like Theils without the grills but have real bass. Unobtanium though.

Bay Audio

Build quality like a brick. By the book MTMs and sound fine with massive power.

Sony SS-M7s

Nice balanced zero fatigue, truncated pyramids so the smaller width top has the imaging advantages of modern towers and the fat bottom has reasonable bass without a subwoofer.

Fultons

Very true tone/timbre, like Bozaks.

Khorn clones

Wide open muscle cars. No apologies. Ridiculous overkill in a home setting.

DQ-20i

Open airy eerily lifelike on acoustic guitar. Could be the bass reflex mid cylinders? Lifeless unless you use a high current amp.

M&K S-1B

Best vintage sats. Great imaging. Small 4ohm speakers that need a huge amp.

NS-1000

The physicists' speaker. PRAT kings. Best mid-highs except e-stats.

Klipsch RF-7

Thunder for HT. Need a smooth amp for the Ti tractrix. Drops to 2.8ohm in the bass so don't think a flea tube amp can work. Shiny coppery cones.

DQ-9c

Good mids and the Nextel reduces boxiness. Well defined bass, rockable speakers with no rattle.

SpeakerLab 3s

Dynamic and huge soundstage. Quality drivers matter.

Cylinder customs by Vance Dickason

Disappear. Keep away from cats. They resemble scratching posts. :sigh:

JansZen Z-II CF

Some mid loss but I have few two-ways. Beautiful cabs.

RTR-E400

Two-way e-stat hybrids. More bass than the Janszens because the 12 alnico is better than the Sony 10s. More HF output but directional and not as airy.

Infinity 2000A

3-way E-stat hybrids. Complex and needs repair constantly. Beautiful sound.

I'm at a point with my speakers where I sit down to listen and the only thing that immediately comes to mind is "cool song!"
 
Home grown 3 way - not bad but need more bass

McIntosh SL-6 - I need a bigger amp. After the bigger amp, Aaahh

After hearing my brothers Bozak Symphony's - I need to kidnap these.
 
JBL l112 - 044 tweeters: Since I put your gaskets back on after finding them in the closet after six months, (Durp! :stupid:) you sound amazing at any volume! No more distortion at all. The woofers must have been inflating/deflating your domes at volume. L5-12 midrange - Killed in action after massive seizure. RIP, but welcome new midrange. Again, dumbfounded that these speakers can play at astonishing levels with no distortion.

Clearfield Continentals - Big open sound with the best Mids and Highs of any of my speakers. Bass is correct in tone and detailed but not deep.

Dynaudio Audience 82s - Good deep chest thumping bass, real neutral in overall sound and a little rolled off at the top but like all Danes, a pretty truthful speaker.

Dynaudio Audience 42s - Very similar to the 82s but with limited bass. Punchy and lively with a good amp.

JM Labs Tantal 509s - Like most JM and Focals, they are fast, accurate, detailed, and if you stand in just the right spot, the sound opens way up. The titanium tweeter can start to get to me after a long loud session but not under normal levels.

Polk Monitor 30 Series II - Typical Polk sound, kind of dry and boomy bass.

Phase Linear III's

"Just sound so good you wonder why anyone would ever buy any other speaker all others can't compare. The bass frequencies so low sometime I have to turn it down as I fear the plaster on the walls and ceiling might fall off, and the music just seems to eminate from the air, as the panels just dissapear, the largest soundstage I have yet to hear."

Infinity QLS-2's

Almost as good as their big brothers! Just can't find a better speaker for the size and price that you can get these for, bass that will reproduce a kettle drum, and mid and hi's to die for.

When I got my Vandersteen 2Cis I was constantly amazed at how good they sounded. Not perfect in anything, but good in everything, so balanced and harmonious. They always drew me in and they always gave me that musical thrill. I would sit and listen to them and marvel that I bought a pair of speakers that sounded that good for 400 bucks.

A spectacular collection, and all looking so well taken care of. You're to be complimented. Infinity did make the most beautiful speakers ever. Never heard the Phase Linears, but would love to. A question, and I know this is hard, but, skipping the 1Bs, if you could keep only one pair of these, which would it be?

A couple of pics are just grabbed off the web, the first one those are not mine, and the second one is an ad that I think that was part of Stereo's giveaway. My RS-1b's are not in as good a shape as the ones pictured, but I my pair of RS-1a's are in just as good as shape. My QLS-1's are very good condition as well. I have a complete set of brand new NOS mid domes for them as well, all the drivers in them work, but those mid domes can be a problem as the tinsle wires break when old. If I kept one over the RS-1's it would be the big Quantums as they are more expensive than the PHase Linears, as I see them once and a while for sell at pretty low prices, but they are getting pretty hard to find with the orginal OEM speaker controller and the Bass commode in good shape. The Phase Linears came with the two panels and a Bass Commode (SUB) that has two 12 inch drivers that fire down and they have extra weighted cones so getting some that have not sagged down is getting hard to find. When I don't play mine I turn the commode up on its side so they don't sit with the drivers down. As far as the pair that I most enjoy it would be the PHase Linears, they are really a fun pair of speakers to listen to. I purchased a second set, just for the extra bass commode, which I use together with my set up driven by a seperate amp.

I hope to really, I purchased those Sansui's cause I thougth they would be the almost the same sound, to be fair they had a problem the surrounds had pulled off the back of the cones, and I didn't know it as the foam glues to the rear of the cone not the front, so they looked ok. Plus I have some new caps ordered to rebuild the crossovers, they simply have to sound better, everything in them screams quality! To get the JBL's I want I would be looking at around 3000 to 5000 dollars probably so thats not going to happen soon, some better amps for what I have is more a priorty.

They are.

I have only found limited info on them. Mine are the early version with Phillips drivers.

Do you have any info on them? I'm still trying to piece the story together. I know very little other than these were the largest of 3 models and where made in Waterloo Ont. They go 20-20,000, weight 105Lbs each are baltic birch with maple side panels and sound fantastic.

Magnepan MMGs.....my eyes have been opened and everything has changed. Is this really possible for $300? Tweaker's wet dream and boy do they ever deliver the goods when the tweakin' begins. The best reason I've had yet to hang a for sale sign on my Vandersteen 2ci, Polk SDA-1c, and ADS 1290/2s. On the prowl for 1.6QRs now and would really like to hear some Quads.

ElectroVoice Interface C's ....you get to stick around!

(2) DIY subs with 12" Dayton Titanic MkIII.....couldn't do it without you....a third is coming soon.

Von Schweikert VR-2000 - AMAZING - Lovely sound after replacing low quality caps in the crossover. Just want to keep listening. Sound great anywhere within 30 ft of them. Makes me think "play more music'.

Klipsch KLF-20 - Very Good - Sound very good and are nowhere near as bright as K-horns or Heresy IIs. Should be better soon with the cabinet & crossover rebuild. Presently makes me think 'gee, I wonder if they will go a little louder and sound as good', then a little later I get the same thought again. The answer is 'yes they do'.

A/D/S L-880 - Very Good - Sound very good and go deep for their size. Makes me think 'Just $250?....Me likey'

These are three sets of good speaks that I'd like to hold on to, if I can afford to in my present situation.
