I picked this table up this morning, I've never had a table that looked anything like it. It's in pretty much mint condition, the stylus looks like its seen very limited play. So what have I got here? Is it considered to be a decent table in the B & O lineup? I know nothing of their gear.

I have its tangential tracking sibling (TX-2).
I like b&o tt's; others don't. Caveat emptor :-)
You are very lucky to have a cartridge with intact stylus. Which one is it? MMC-2 was the best (at least, towards the end of b&o's vinyl era).

Yikes! Pricey carts or what :headscrat:screwy:

The cart on mine is the MMC-5 which I gather was the entry level cart. I haven't given it a go yet other than a quick spin on a test record. Anyone with an idea on how to set one of these up?
 
I had one like Mr Hardy's, but it got zapped in 2000 during a thunderstorm, Bill Watkins tried & tried, but never could get it straightened out. I REALLY liked it, too...
 
I've got one and like it just fine. IIRC, you place the stylus on an LP and pull the plug. This allows you to balance the tonearm and then set the tracking weight. I don't think there is anything else to set.

yep, nothing to it. i have a 3300 tangent-tracker. love it!

btw, an MMC3 just went for 120 bux on the 'bay. they can be found.
 
Right, pull the power. This will allow the arm to be in a 'down' position so you can balance it. I believe it's the only way to get around all of the cueing / auto sensors.
 
I have two of these TTs and I love them. I bought the first one for $5.00 because they said it wouldn't turn; I took the table off and put the belt back on and it has worked well for over ten years. I bought the second for $7.00 just for the cartridge.

They are easy to use and rather foolproof if they aren't abused. I hope you get lots of enjoyment from yours!!
 
It's a table unlike any other I've had. The arm looks like a little twig but I guess it gets the job done.
 
I remember when B&O first hit the store in my town, maybe I was around 12, I thought it was th coolest stuff I had ever seen, I still think so.

I have a Beogram 1200 in good shape but not turning - motor issues? - need to get someone to look at it.

finding one in working order with a cart makes me VERY JEALOUS! :) Good luck with it!

The tonearms are very light - they are pretty well liked by some. I agree though, they look kinda frail, but I think it's good stuff

Cool. I've got $20 into this table so no loss if I don't like it. Haven't given it a go yet though.
