So I got 3 things taken care of so far this weekend;

1. Removed the Corrosion off the battery terminal(s) on my 1979 Sanyo M9909 Cassette recorder. It works on batteries now, but of course it doesn't perform as well as it did on AC. Wish it did tho :(

2. Upgraded the Firmware on my Aiwa Exos-9 to 4.58 from 4.53 - As well as removing the DSP compressor that limited the amount of bass the Subwoofer could put out with Explosions, frequency drops, etc. To "Protect it" (and the four other drivers) [C'mon, it's got a 2" DVC. 80W o' power/ch shouldn't hurt it]. The End result came out glorious. It's nice and smooth, and comes out real clear. It's like a brand new speaker. I swear I'm hearing new details I never thought existed. It also pounds like it should, even @ 40-50% Volume (where I usually have it at). So if you have an Exos-9, I recommend you remove the Compression. It will make quite a difference.

3. Upgraded my phone's Software from Android Pie (9) to Android 10 and One-UI 2 (Samsung Galaxy S9). I'm getting used to it as time flies.Screenshot_20200314-210654_YouTube.jpgGot a few new features as well.

Interesting. My father plants, um, y'know. Plants. She took an interest in landscaping. So she's got the nicest yard in the entire HOA establishment (in our area).
 
You really should close out your other thread about the batteries not working in your Sanyo so you don't leave people hanging.
 
I installed a new kitchen sink faucet and later went back to it after discovering I initially installed it backwards.

Installed new foam surrounds on a pair of Realistic Nova 15's (glad I didn't make the same mistake as the faucet).
 
It sucks getting old. When I was younger I would have these issues from lifting things I shouldn't have like one of my amplifiers lol, now it happens when I cough too hard.

Back on topic, I have finished gathering and ordering all of the parts needed and have begun installing the phono stage in my Audio Research SP16L preamplifier. It is a bit challenging cross-referencing between the schematic,the bare section of circuit board,and internet photos of the SP16 model that has the factory phono stage.Should be finished today.
 
Yesterday my wife & I did some general clean up around the place. Tore down the 35 year old trampoline, finished loading up scrap metal to recycle, started in on the 3 rd barn we plan on restoring. The on the tractor to knock down some of the last remnants of the kids BMX track. Raining today so I'll get' tu it' this week once more.

I think I have have succeeded in making the intermittent crackly sound go away on the right side when using the Citation II.:jump:
 
I got back home Friday, so I'll make it a 3 day weekend.
attempted and failed to get a car title transferred
washed the car, mostly to blast crap off the wheels and get the crud out from under the trim. Engine also got a rinse.
pulled and fixed the odometer
pulled it again to tinker more with the speedo since it wasn't quite right
replaced a bad door lock switch
fixed loose screws on the power seat switch
tested 4 amps for the car, got 1 that works as it should
installed said amp so the stereo doesn't suck
cleaned the leftover home destruction stuff from my garage overhang
took leftovers to the dump
moved a car into that space, which is why it was built in the first place.


since it appears to be decent outside maybe I'll hook the hose up and give the car a proper wash. Maybe give it a clay bar treatment too.
 
Nothing really. Sold a pair of LaScalas to another guy in our local vintage audio group. Now I have money for toilet paper.
Actually swapped in a set of Stephens Trusonics FR120's into some custom 6.2cf vented cabinets and they sound super.
We went from no cases of Covid19 here on Thursday to 5 as of last night so I am sure things will start getting weird now for us here.

I was trying to deal with a right-channel hum issue on my Yaqin MC-30L tube amp. It would go away if I put pressure on the volume pot shaft. I assumed it was a ground issue with the pot. Took the bottom panel off and checked the pot pcb for bad solder joints and other connections. Put it back together and swapped out power tubes. Hum remained. I then put my finger on one of the 8 driver triodes and got much stronger hum. Replaced that driver and no hum. Driver tube failures seem to be rare but they do happen.
 
So far this weekend I've removed the drivers from my ntm KLH Model Twenty Threes, replaced an open tweeter, recapped both crossovers, deoxit'd the controls, and redoped both woofers.

Hoping to repair some veneer issues today.

Didnt accomplish a damn thing.. Taking a proctored test tonite, online, Network Administrator..
Just listening to music, while doing laundry, dishes, etc...
Single life....
I'd rather be fishing on the Gulf coast....
 
Ended up having to go to work yesterday to deal with a minor emergency. But I can comp myself for those hours and get to the honey-do list later. This morning I'm being lazy and just listening to music.
