What I decided to do

...What about stores that have free shipping? I noticed that if I buy something and refuse it and then I do get a full refund on it.

Does UPS offer "free" shipping? There's no such thing as free shipping. When a store or company offers free shipping, then they cost they pay for the shipping is included in their expenses, and then it's included in the price you pay.

Somebody has to pay UPS, or FedEx, or the USPS, and it's the buyer, one way or the other.

When the package that you ordered through Amazon shows up at your door, who brings it? Not a guy wearing an Amzon shirt...but UPS, FedEx, USPS..etc. Those guys don't work for free, so if you refuse a package you just created more work to send it back. Someone has to pay for that, and it won't be the middle man.

When ever I buy anything...doesnt matter if its face to face or over the phone or even over the net. I always take it. I also buy low enough if I dont want it or need it after I get I can recoup my money or make a profit. Unless you are absolutely sure you want it...dont commit to buying it. It hurts everyone in the end.

Well what about items you buy at a local store that doesn't involve shipping? Is it still bad to return something you don't want after you tested it? I forgot to ask this question.

But if it's not good to even do it localy then I must really have to be careful on what I buy since I thought the whole reason for return policy is if I don't like the item I can get a refund or if something is not working right also.

Well so far all the stores I been to and returned accepted a return because I found something better or not interested in it anymore or anything but maybe I should not even do it anymore. But if I don't return stuff anymore then it's going to be very hard since I have to really think before I buy something. Alot of times I have to try and see if I like an item at home in order to figure out if it will work out for me or will it not work out. Like if I got headphones or speakers I have to buy them and try them out and decide if I like them. Since there are millons of headphones and speakers out there it's hard to find the right one for me. Only way is to test them and see if I like them. But I will try my best to not return if it's not good to do that.

Well I know that forsure that if I buy stuff used at a Goodwill store or Thrift store I will need too test things out and see if it works for me and also if the item isn't broken so forsure there will be more chances I would return something at a Goodwill store or Thrift store. Goodwill have only 7 days to return an item and get a refund but if you talk to the manager there they might be able to make it to a month but only in store credit you can do.

Most electronics I buy are used since I' am in a tight budget. But some items I have are new.

But eatherway if it's not good to return stuff then I will have to try my best not to even localy. But someone said it's upto store policy but I don't know if its ok even if they let you return.

Do you eat half a Big Mac and then return it because you are full and no longer need the other half ?

I see a trend in your posts. You seem to be obsessed with returns/test drives. Not cool !

So even localy it's not good to return stuff?? I thought it's ok to search for something you want and try it and keep trying untill you find something you really like. I mean how am I suppose to know if the item is what I am looking for without trying it? Even I see specs on websites that doesn't tell me like how a speaker will sound in my room or if a receiver will not play as loud or isn't as clear, etc.

But it seems like you guys are saying that I should not keep trying and to find something I really want and then keep it and if in the future I don't want it just sell it or so.

Sometimes this can be a tough concept to understand- How about if we approach it from a different angle?

You put your JBLs up on eBay.

The winning bidder declines the package.

You are out the bid, you are out shipping and packing expenses, and you are out a fee for return shipping.

For an individual, that can get pricey. You may be out the $20 shipped, $20 return shipped, and any expenses for packing.

You are also out your time. And effort.

This applies to the seller you bought the other JBLs off of, as well.

Big stores sell in giant volume- this cost is pennies to them because they sell thousands of items (most accepted), compared to a lone individual like yourself selling an item here or there.

Amazon sells thousands of packages. You, and other eBayers, sell only a few. A return or two on thousands is less traumatic than a return or two on say a dozen items.

I hope that helps.

Oh- and even if you do it at Amazon or a big store, it does raise prices for everybody- though that can be a mere fraction of a cent to a few cents. But yes, it does effect overall cost.

Now, back to your original theory-

Yes, 8-ohm speakers will be easier on your gear in general. Overall sound may, or may not suffer slightly, but the load on your gear will be an easier one.

Now, I do not know if you understand "clipping" but look that up in regards to amps and speakers. This will also help you in preserving your gear and help you provide your gear a longer life.

Since it seems like I' am doing the whole thing wrong please let me know how you test, research and buy things and how you try to find something you really like.

Thanks

If you guys can teach me whats the best to test and buy things then that would be better since apparently I don't know how to find what I want the right way.

Since it seems like returning at a store, online like Amazon, Ebay etc doesn't get good results for everyone. I really need to know what should I do if I am interested in something but don't know if it will work. I do look online but the specs doesn't always tell me right off the bat that this is what I need.

It's best to listen in person, as you are saying. Instead of looking for a specific item on Amazon, go to a local stereo shop and listen to what they have, both new and used. Many places will let you take something home (with a deposit of some kind) so you can hear it there. If you don't like it, no one is out anything.

Well most of the stuff like speakers I' am interested in aren't there at a local store or if they have a receiver I' am interested in they aren't hooked up at all etc. It's really hard to test everything I want it they don't sell it and only sold online. Or if they are not hooked up.

Alot of speakers I' am interested into is online so there is really no way to test them unless I buy them and try them.

I will try my best to not return but alot of times it will be hard since not everything that I like are in local stores to listen to.

Well anyways hopefuly my new JBL Control 1Xtreme will work better on my receiver and will not get soo hot like the Control 1. I think I should of gotten the Control 1Xtreme in the first place but I didn't know that 4 ohms speakers are not good for 8 ohms receivers and will get very hot.

I think people are saying that stores like Amazon with a more liberal return policy are able to afford returns better than an individual who is doing this as a sideline. It's a matter of showing some consideration.

Consider how you would feel if you had to deal with another person like you who doesn't know what he wants. It can be frustrating and expensive. And if they return it, you take the chance of it getting damaged on the return trip.

That said, nobody can make you change. All we can do is tell you about the concerns.

You're going to have to learn for yourself what works best. Especially if you encounter sellers who refuse to give you a refund or refuse to deal with you.

I like to use craigslist where I can test speakers. But buying new may be best for you if you don't want to have to worry about refoaming. You can check online but also any local audio stores. You need to research, read reviews and get recommendations. Hopefully you will get something you'll like.

Well I guess I will have to do is to do more reaseach but I hope from now on I will find something I want and know I want it. But I guess the point people were saying was that not to refuse items anymore if it's been sold by a person like me on Ebay since it's not like returning them on Amazon or Best Buy etc. I just didn't think it was that bad that I refused a package from a seller on Ebay since I thought it was the same as Amazon or other stores. But I learned something new.

But eatherway I hope I will enjoy my new speakers and I know now I don't have to worry about heat. I will let you guys know how I think both these speakers sound like when compairing side by side since that might help others who wants to know the sound difference.. :)
