The speakers are 180 watts max.

I'm guessing they are rack system speakers since Google doesn't bring up much if anything so 5 or 10 watts might be enough.

Depends on how loud you want to listen. Twice as loud is 10 times as much power. Noticeably louder is twice as much power (3dB).

15 watts will power them just fine to a nice level but if you want to crank you will probably need more power than that. There were a very large number of under 25 wpc amps and receivers sold much more than the bigger ones.

I don't know the efficiency ratings - it's an old speaker from late 80's and detailed specs are not available. It's a pretty big a heavy floor standing tower (2 of them) and I am trying to figure out if my 50 watts per channel Yamaha from my storage room would do the job or I need to buy a new amp.

I think a 50 watt Yamaha would power just about any speaker nicely. As long as there's nothing wrong with the amp you should be good.

Excellent update on the information that has allowed crazy to give you a true and correct answer. You left out the "I got fiddy will it work" in your original post. Party on should be happy with the volume.
