IMHO, the Pioneer and Rotel are likely worth that alone. The Sherwood is worth ~$25-40 in working condition. The SL-B1 TT is a bottom-feeder belt drive unit worth maybe $20. I have no knowledge of the speakers or the Akai unit. The Kenny tape deck looks somewhat interesting, but who knows what it is or may need. The rest is likely garage-sale crap. As the Pioneer and Rotel at least appear to power up, offer him $275 for the lot if those 2 have decent cosmetics.

It makes me nervous that the only items that are 100% are a tuner, a couple of cassette decks and a loose speaker. Around here most cassette decks and tuners go for five or ten dollars at garage sales or thrift stores. Some models would be more desireable, but I don't think these would be in that group. I would want those receivers, but I wouldn't pay more than $200 and that's if their only problems are dirty pots. I'd offer and if he balked or tried to mention any of those other items as a selling point, I'd offer for only the receivers and let him keep that other stuff. How much to offer is of course dependant upon whether you need it, want it, or just think its to good a scroe to pass up. At $350 I wouldn't think it was a scroe at all.

We can agree to disagree. The SX-1010 with pots that need a good shot of Deoxit and (likely) $50 worth of caps is worth a majority of the entry price IMHO or slightly less. I would think that a clean SX-1010 would bring $250-300 on the bay. This is assuming good cosmetics. The Rotel, again with decent cosmetics, is likely worth 2 bills if in serviceable condition after a little cleaning. I agree that the rest is Goodwill donation quality at best. I'd say it's worth a look and a possible offer. Items that are 30+ years old and 100% are few and far between and command far higher prices than is being asked here.

Nicely done! If you feel the Rotel is the unit you want to keep then the Pioneer will more than pay for it. Clean the SX-1010 and throw it up on the Bay. If the cosmetics are good, you will cover your costs thus far easily. Although I don't usually condone flips, if you are happy with your purchase then well done. :thmbsp: Hopefully you will be able to pass the Pioneer along to another enthusiast. Overall, I'd have to say a nice score.

the Pioneer was a bonus in this deal for me . I will gladly pass the 1010 on to another enthusiast after I clean it up and do what I can for it , and I will offer it first on AK ,as this was the place I turned to when I wanted advice when the deal first came up . Thanks guys for your advice .
