What is YOUR pet peeve? Let's have a laugh.

Don't know if the term is common elsewhere, but in our neck o' the words, we refer to those inconsiderate intellectually challenged operators and their vehicles as "rolling blizzards," as that's what they create in their wake. Yes, a deserved peeve.
 
My brother always likes or has to speak with my mom whenever I'm trying to go to sleep. He does this nearly every single night for like 5 minutes. We both share the same room.
 
Whenever they show the inside of an attorney's office on TV, there are hundreds of books in their bookshelves.

C'mon - you haven't cracked a book like that in 40 years. It's all onlline, flash drives, or hard drives.
 
It's been over 500 years since Columbus discovered "the new world". At first he thought he had made it to India like he intended to, but soon realized that he had come to another land mass. 5 centuries later, people still refer to native Americans as "Indians". Having native American in me, I find this vulgar display of ignorance very offensive.

I have 1/16th Lakota in me but don't feel 'offended'. Just astounded to the point of why bother at this point at the ignorance.
Native American is STILL incorrect- we are all natives of this land unless you personally immigrated here.
No, Indigenous American is the term. That's what I use, complete with the blank looks from peple that I get.

Being offended by ignorance would be a full time job these days, so I gave that up a long time ago. Willful avoidance of logic and common sense is much more offensive to me. Not a big fan of applying current optics, right or wrong, to things that happened hundreds of years ago, either. If we are to judge, at least let us judge people according to the times in which they lived, the circumstances with which they were presented, and the customs that were the norm at the time.

Before cancelling the Disney+ streaming service, we watched a movie just for old times' sake that I remember enjoying as a kid... "The Ugly Dachsund." Prior to the movie playing, a warning message stated that the movie "contained racial stereotypes and other scenes that viewers will find offensive, they were not OK then, and they're not OK now.".. pretty much those exact words, give or take. Gimmeabreak. And yet.... pretty much every show and movie now has plenty of stuff that many would consider much more offensive, including a lot of Disney's current output, but as long as it's accepted/promoted by current groupthink, it's fine. Cancelled it the next day. "The Ugly Dachsund," for goodness' sake. SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!

Yep! A large amount of the populace does not have any interest in understanding history.

The "Driving with an unsecured load" charge may be small taters, only going up to a $200 fine, but, the "Unsafe operation of a vehicle" charge, if the operation is deemed dangerous enough by the Officer to pose an "immediate and grave" danger to the public, can be written as a Felony charge resulting in Arrest and vehicle seizure. For instance, beyond the whole killing of the fellow motorists with 500 pounds of ice thing, there is language in the speeding laws (ch 90 sec 17) that anyone over 30 MPH over the posted limit is also subject to the "Unsafe operation of a vehicle" charge.

And yet, people here still drive like it's some kind of flippin NASCAR / Demo Derby event with maximum points going to the most offensive driving behavior :mad:

The "up to $200 fine," may be just the tip of the iceburg for these juicers...wait until they see their next year's insurance bill...AND try to appeal the rate increase with images
like the one shown. When I did my fire investigation/code enforcement work in another life, you had to be happy with the little victories that you got...but when an insurance
company requested a report, you knew the jig was up for them ;)

Understandable. Similar to Australian first inhabitants. Now in Australia they refer to these people as "abo's". It is derogatory in my view.
Without a capital “a”, “aboriginal” can refer to an Indigenous person from anywhere in the world. The word means “original inhabitant” in Latin

In fact, the point has been made repeatedly (and by people much cleverer than me) that one can't "discover" a place that already has a thriving population.
