What Market Segment?

All speakers are voiced, John. You just have to like the voice. Ofcourse the voice has to be heard through the comforter wrapped around the head:D in the case of the AR's.
Well, those Harbeth's of yours are voiced to accurately portray the sound of their designer Alan Shaw's daughter's voice, right? I know he used that technique on at least a few of his designs, tweaking the crossovers, etc, to a sound he was most familiar with. While that is 'voiced', the intention seems to be not having a voice, or as close as is possible to that.

Boy, AR sure has a reputation. Or maybe it's their their listeners. But I don't get the insistence that they were aimed at classical and jazz fans. They did do 'is it live or is it AR' classical concerts and it's probably true that Little Richard was not their target audience.
But AR wanted to sell speakers, so they cast their net pretty wide.
They used to advertise that some itinerant blues player in the south used a 1 or 2 on the back of the truck for his PA system. And AR certainly went after the folkies with the ad with Judy Collins, and popular jazz fans with Louis Armstrong (our nation's musical ambassador, hardly a snoot), and regular working people with the kiosk in Grand Central Station.
I think its hard to come up with any companies that based their marketing on what ever the wildest, rawest, rock and roll was -- the target changes so quickly, and by definition most of the money fans have is going to shows and 45s etc rather than high profit margin audio equipment.

That is correct about the Harbeth's. Intention or not all of the best loudspeakers that I know of are voiced. ProAc's were at one time recently voiced with Audio Research amps.
