What McIntosh Gear Are You Using?

I’m most proud of the power tubes: Tung Sol 6550 smooth black plate, one pair, 1st gen, other 3rd gen. I lucked out in purchasing a total of 7 tubes over time from various sources and found 2 matched pairs, with date codes within weeks of each other, from 1958 and 1960. I joke that I don’t listen to any music released after my tubes were manufactured…

Great score on the Tung Sols. NOS Tungies weren't exactly thick on the ground twenty years ago when I last ran an amp using 6550s. And in this last year when I started looking again for a pair of NOS 6550 there were plenty of GE 6550s of various vintages available but nary a Tung Sol to be seen.

Enjoy those tubes!

I have a pair of XR-5s and an MQ102 to go with. Currently I'm using a Fosi ZA3 as an amp (which is shockingly good) but I'd like to find an MC2205.

Welcome to AK!!
If you become an Audiokarma "Subscriber", you'll gain access to the BarterTown (BT) forum. There you can create a "Want To Buy" (WTB) thread for the MC2205 you wish to purchase. There also may be one available on that BT forum for purchase.

Thanks! It's more aspirational than anything at the moment, as my budget is very small :)

I still have my little Mc "Slimline" Set :
