What modern things do you hate/dislike?

What modern thing to I dislike?

Rap Music

Fortunately, it's just a fad :) (<== I actually said and thought this 40 years ago, I guess I was wrong)
I like rap and hip-hop up to about 1996, especially the stuff that was using lots of samples from jazz records. A Tribe Called Quest, The Roots, and The Pharcyde are groups I still occasionally listen to today. RUN-DMC is always fun. After 1996 it got very commercial-sounding, and now it sounds like it's written by illiterate drop-outs who can barely open their mouths when they speak, much less "rap."

I like some of it, but I never thought it would just dominate (at least financially) long term the way it has.

Especially agree with the recent stuff from illiterate drop-outs -- and there are a ton of them making mega coin while extremely talented (non-rap) musicians struggle to even stay afloat.

The market speaks I guess -- but I'll be damned if I understand it :dunno: .

Same.

I'll have to add a like for the grimey style of the Wu-Tang though.

And some other darker hip-hop that went straight into the jungle and drum'n'bass from my formative years:

Same.

I'll have toa dd a like for the grimey style of the Wu-Tang though.
Some Hip-Hop, RAP is cool.

I definitely don't understand the draw to a constant exact same beat and the monotone auto tuned "rap" crap. There is no talent to it and I don't understand the draw to it. Simple music for a simple mind maybe? Not that I'm the sharpest knife in the drawer.

That being said I like hard rock heavy metal as my main music and a lot of people would say that's crap and only makes me want to beat my head against the wall but least they can actually sing and play instruments.

But I can also listen to things like Collective Soul or Cake as other examples.

The problem I have with newer Rap (after about 1995 !) is that my old ears are SLOW and they speak way too FAST, I can only catch about every tenth word. I liked Tone Loc and Run DMC because I could understand what they were saying.

Rakim. :beatnik:

No idea why the lore of the hood spoke to this white ass kid at the time though.

I know this is a thread about our hatred or dislike of certain things, but I love the Beastie Boys. I love the whole concept of the Beastie Boys + some of their live instrument jams are funky as hell.

On the last flight I took, from Newark to London, I wore a sport jacket, black jeans that don't look like jeans, dress shoes, and I believe I was wearing a fitted, plain t-shirt. Nice watch on my wrist. It strikes the right balance of comfort and presentability because I can take off the jacket when I'm in my seat.

I don't mind people wearing jeans and t-shirts on planes if they're well put together, but sweatpants, workout wear, pajamas, flip flops or anything similar I judge very harshly (silently, in my mind). Like Karl Lagerfeld once said: "Sweatpants are a sign of defeat. You lost control of your life, so you bought some sweatpants"
Oh, it gets worse. When I was in law enforcement, we would have citizens come to our HQ to file a report. They arrived, still wearing their pajamas.
