What song really MOVES you?

This song when I drink to much and think about a certain past relationship long, long ago...



I threw this version in just because it's cool, but I don't think it tears at my emotions as much as the studio version.

 
"Farewell Thunderchild" from Jeff Wayne's "War Of the Worlds" - it gets me every time.

Great tune but 'That's The Way' has a much bigger impact on me.

Many songs fall into this category for me. Most recently, I was working on a review for a new album by finger-style guitarist Mark Fosson, and on the CD this track came up, 'A Drink With Stephen F.' Knowing the circumstances of Stephen Foster's demise in 1864, and hearing the stark melancholy in the chord structure and Mark's playing, I was moved to tears the first time I heard it. I spoke with Mark about my experience, and he was pleased that it had that affect on me...it was that sentiment he was seeking to convey...a tragic end to a life and music we all know as Americans, but many don't know that Stephen Foster wrote many of our best known American songs.

Just another example of the typical current trend of being offended by anything and everything. I wasn't making fun of YOU personally, I lampooned the NAME of the affliction. It would be like calling cancer "Dancer" and making it one of Santa Claws' reindeers of death or something.

I went and listened to it, and I'm not sure how the song relates to death from a fever and a fall, but I suppose that's one of the mysteries of music--how it can affect one person deeply and be completely "meh" to another.
 
It's an old one written by Daryl Hall.

It got a new lease of life as the close-out track for this Cathrine Zeta Jones film. "The Rebound."

Someone took the trouble to use it as a backing track for a montage of clips they assembled to tell the story of the film.

We all have different backgrounds and we are all turned on by different tunes. Though I don't understand how some people can utilize equipment with such high distortion values or such low frequency response values just because the piece of equipment was produced in the seventies. It seems that enjoyment is just as much a mental stimulation as it is a nerological stimulation. Doctors are using music to treat geriatric developmental issues.
