What was the the last audio-related item you purchased?

I scored a Nikko NR-819 and a Sharp RT-30 cassette deck on marketplace for $30! They both look brand new. Like straight out of the box new. And they work!

I'm stoked about the Nikko since I've been on the hunt for a 40 wattish receiver for a while now and missed out on a few. Never had a Nikko so I hope it's good. Might change the lamps to blue since I love the looks of their slightly older models.

It was super easy connecting to my network with Bluesound's app, It simply went right into the slot my previous Node X used, I renamed it and did a little setup via my cell phone.

The sound stage is wicked wide/deep/and high with an ultra black background. I didn't expect this much improvement over my older Node X, but the Icon has separate Dacs for each channel and I can really hear the difference. Also, my normal listening volume was at the 12 o'clock position, with the ICON it is now down to the 10 o'clock position.

I have had one for a while and it does have a very nice DAC implementation
I added the Teddy Pardo LPS conversion which is a very easy and quick install
I had the Icon going to a Geshelli 4499 J2 and I forgot to plug it in and I was thinking that the J2 was sounding extra nice and realized when I shut everything down that the Icon has a very nice DAC and have just kept using it
 
Hooked that Nikko up to some Jamo Coronet 40 II's and it sounds pretty damn good even with mediocre speakers. Just a little static from a volume pot that hasn't moved since the 80's.

I have seen Monitor Audio's new Silver Series 8th generation speaker line (due out in September) and there are no significant changes sonically or mechanically. A couple sites had them up for a few days (prematurely, and they have since taken them down). They revealed that the real wood veneer is gone, and only three colors are available: gloss black, gloss white, and Walnut which looks pretty fake in the new "man made engineered wood" veneer. The only other change is the color of the speaker cones, now dark grey instead of light grey/silver.

The prices are a bit cheaper than the 7G, due to the loss of real wood veneer (Silver 500 7G was $3,750 pair, 8G will be around $3,300/ Silver 300 7G was $3,200 pair, 8G will be approx $2,800).

I'm not impressed with the new 8th Generation (other than the darker cone color which looks good), so I ordered a pair of the older Silver 300 7G in walnut on closeout for $2,049.00 for my office system, they should be here by the weekend. My even older MA Silver 500 6G in Rosewood are going to my daughter, as they have always been a little too large for my small office, but will be perfect for her large living room.

After saying never, I bought a streamer so I didn't have to keep on using an old iPad connected with the 3.5mm out to RCA ins. I bought a WiiM Pro Plus and it's frickin' glorious. I use streaming more like FM radio of yore. I only subscribe to Pandora's basic plan but it's upscaled to their highest stream rate when connected through the WiiM which uses your home's wi-fi network, not Bluetooth. I also listen to Somehow Jazz (somehowjazz.com) at their high streamrate. You can see it through the dustcover of the turntable and it's simply set aside when playing records. I've ordered a second one for another system. I'm a fanboy.

C-Clips I purchased and got delivered just now, and a lots of them. Black and stainless. I purchased them for my cassette decks. I only needed by the way one 1.5mm black C-Clip. O well I never have to look for more I suppose :rflmao:
