What was the the last audio-related item you purchased?

A 3" roll of adhesive copper tape. I was going to use it to line the inside of an all wood chassis I built for a tube preamp. I had a bit of hum and figured I could use the copper tape for shielding the inside of the chassis. But then I remembered I had an issue with a slight hum in a tube amp I built using the same switch mode power supply. The solution was to install a 10uf cap across the 300 volt output of the switcher. So I added a 10uf cap and it killed the hum in the preamp as well. I guess I'll just add the role of tape in a parts bin.

So if we don't hear from you after she gets back, should we assume the worst? :)

(I've long wanted a set of DCM TW and/or TF, but we have no space, just thinking out loud how that "look what I bought you while you were gone" approach would go at my house :))

That's what she gets for leaving me to my own devices. I bet she thinks twice the next time her friends invite her for a girl's trip up north.

Yeah it's staying as is for now. I thought the wedge lamps were plug and play, but I have to bust out the soldering iron. And it does look pretty in the dark.
 
A buddy bought some garden hose thick speaker cables, but they were about 18" too short - he bought 6ft, needed at least 8 ft (apparently he isn't good at using a tape measure then adding on some extra length for good measure). He offered them to me for $50 (normally $189) so I said SURE !

They are The Worlds Best Cables Ultimate 7AWG bi-wire with gold spades. They are made up of four 9 AWG wires with 1,120 strands per wire (4,480 total) so they are super supple- they lay were you put them (unlike the Canare Star Quad cables I've been using that are pretty stiff). I know they are "Massive Overkill" but I like them. I also swapped out the Furutech binding post for some Vampire Wing Nut posts like the ones I put on my KEF R7Meta speakers.

Actually, time frames don’t need that much floor space.

I bought my third WiiM Pro Plus which should arrive tomorrow. The bumped up in price starting on August 1st but there are a few on ebay that are still at or below the former price. First one went into the living room system, second went out to the studio, and this one will go in the family room. While I still prefer playing records and CDs, much of the time I want music playing while I'm doing other things and these really punch up the quality of services like Pandora (I have the basic subscription) and running it through the Pro Plus is a noticeable difference. And they are so damn convenient using the phone app.
 
A JVC XL-V230 cd-player for the livingroom. Freshly serviced with working remote, also included manual in mint condition.

I like JVC cd-players from the 80-90ies era, I have a JVC XL-Z442 in another room.

Both sound great :)

Ordered some tiny through hole cold rivets and a centerpunch to compress them after insertion. Reason:
I have to drill out two rivets to dissemble this little cassette detect and record (protection) detection switch board and remove the copper contact 'spring'. So I can bent it back straight flat with the board. and mount the spring back in small PCB with new rivets.

You see, the larger longer part -:way to the left in the board with that bigger part of that two sections contact spring on photo below - is bent upwards partly and that causes intermittent cassette detection and thus logic control issues in conjunction with bad contact of the switch below that board.

See again the photo inserted below right. I put the business end of a 2 mm wide flat head screw driver to show one of the rivets the other one more to the left in the board.
