What was the the last audio-related item you purchased?

I bought a U-Turn Orbit Plus turntable for our oldest grandchild. He had been using an very old, semi-working, bottom of the line Technics 'table that he picked up at a flea market. He came from Tennessee to visit us for a couple of weeks before his second year of college started back at MTSU. I had some surplus AT and Ortofon cartridges I gave him to try to help it a bit. He thanked me and said he'd going to be working on upgrading that part of his system, so I decided he needed something new. I like the idea of getting him something reliable and decent to play his records and the price point worked for me. He is a great kid and hard-working so I thought I'd do it.

I just hope the other seven grandkids don't hear about it. Might but retiree grandparents into a bit of a bind!
My daughter really likes her U-Turn Orbit. She bought the cheapest model so she'll be getting an Ortofon Blue cartridge for Christmas this year.

Also, you've been a AK member since 2013. I'd be very surprised if you didn't have enough gear stashed to build a system for each grandkid!

I like the U-Turn tables, they are a great way to get into Vinyl. I bet she will like the new cart!!!

I have a first gen Orbit Custom with a walnut base, acrylic plater, and a Ortofon
OM5 cartridge. I use it in a second system. My only real complaint is the hinges on the dust cover. I have to push the dust cover open all the way back several times for it to stay open. They should replace the bendy plastic hinges with real hinges.

Yup, but shipping across the country is pricey and risky. Most of the stuff I have is of the tinkering variety. I had an original Orbit, part of the funding deal, and was super impressed by the company and their service. :p:D;)
