There's a movie coming out about the Runaways.

Flo's on Bouquet Street in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh. The store had a great cut-out section.
It's probably been closed since 1978 or thereabouts. I remember walking up the store front and seeing it dark. Nearly wept.

Hey Bob, Do you remember Bizarre Bazaar on Wells just south of North Av.? They had a huge selection of bootlegs there back in the early 70s. Man, I wish I would have had the money to buy a couple of hundred of those.

Yes I do!!! I wish we stocked up on those!!! Bizarre Bazaar had some great head supplies!! :thmbsp:

I miss my Borders stores as it was in the nineties. It was half the floorspace for music and always many things to be had that nobody else even stocked. Tower Berkeley (3 flloors) for the same reason is a close second.

Record and Tape Collectors in Baltimore. Their Cold Spring Lane store was right across the street from Soundscape.

I was a Music Machine guy up in Pikesville but bought many a record there back in the day there. This past summer I was at a Van der Graff Generator concert in Annapolis and the two guys sitting opposite at the table were former managers at that store and we talked about the"old days".

Someone said something about Joan Jett and angry lesbian earlier.

I met her here in Rochester in 1988 when they (She and the Blackhearts) came to a bar called Scooners before their concert that night.

I recognized her and struck up a conversation. She was one of the nicest people I've ever met. She even let me give her a kiss on the cheek so I could brag in the future about Joan Jett letting me give her a kiss on the cheek!

She's a little thing, prolly only about 5 feet tall in shoes.

Where I grew up, there was only one music/record store in town and they charged way too much for records so we usually resorted to buying them at a department/KMart type store called Tempo. Or, coming over here to Rochester to Musicland (which was a branch of Sam Goody's, I believe) in the Apache Mall.

Jim Salzer's Music Emporium in Thousand Oaks, California. Long gone, but there is still one of his stores in Ventura. :smoke:

Also, Wallich's Music City in Canoga Park and Hollywood. They would acutally let you take a record into a little booth and put it on a turntable and listen to it. :smoke:

Academy St In Poughkeepsie

The place was call Teepedashery. Some of the posts brought back long forgotten memories. Bins and bins of records and cassettes. Always incense burning. When we were younger we used to space out in the back blacklight room. Later we would examine the contents under glass near the counter, and didn't need blacklights anymore.

Straights, haven't heard that term used in this vain in a while. I think the straights got their records elsewhere.

Jay's Record Ranch in downtown Rochester, NY.
Long gone. Since 1975 or so.

Same with the city. Shame it all is. :tears:
