What'd ya get from your Secret Santa? v.2009

My SS sent me a re-issue of Glenn Gould Plays Sibelious from Soundstagedirect. Columbia Masterworks. Should be an enlightening listening experiece! Thanks! (I still have trouble opening a sealed album!)

Well, for all you waiting patiently (or NOT) for your SS gifts, maybe this will help explain why so many of us are still waiting.

As I mentioned before, the other day I had my gift all wrapped, packaged and I went to the PO to find it had closed literally as I walked up to the door. So, I decided to try again the next day (yesterday) and go early. I also figured I'd go to a UPS drop off site (Staples) to send it that way.

So, I get to Staples and there's a line but it's not too long -- only 3 people ahead of me. I think, great, I've got 45 mins to my next appt., I CAN do this and not be late.

However, a few minutes later all of us begin to feel some frustration coming from the clerks at the counter. Then they speak to the person first in line who's being taken care of that the system is down and they can't even enter the data. I ask about this and the guy says that for the last 3 days the system keeps crashing and they reboot, but after a few new entries it goes back to a C R A W L ... They asked us to please be prepared to wait or go to one of the other UPS drop off sites.

I left and went to my meeting. Afterwards I called another drop off site in the area and they also had the same friggin problem! My next stop was to the US PO. :sigh:

I got a gift certificate from music direct. I had never been in the site before and they sell something for just about anyone. It was the perfect gift for me. Now I can buy a few of those new tubes people keep talking about that I always refuse to spend money on since I have so many vintage ones. Thanks a bunch Clyde.

On a side note, my recipient should be getting his soon. It is en route. Not positive about the 18th, but should be close. OR to AZ shouldn't take too long.

Glad that you like it Marc...

Well my SS is just paying me back in advance. I haven't sent my gift out yet and haven't run into mine.
I just recently located the elves to provide me with the proper gifts, apparently elves in California are way faster than elves in West Virginia. As of USPS delivery today, the freakin' elves in West Virginia are on my Sh**....uh, I mean coal list. So half goes out today, and half as soon as those slow Azz reindeer from W.V fly it here. :D

So, a heavy 12" x 12" package shows up today, filled with eight jazz LPs!

Someone has clearly done their homework. I've already listened to a couple of the albums: Excellent!

Given the return address on the package, I'm guessing that my Santa is likely either member ruffian or x 25.

Am I right? Or is there a Sneaky Santa out there?

Priority mail to....

...Heh heh...ya didn't think I'd let it slip do ya ?. Should only take a couple days tops..
I'll have to send the rest when it gets here. :sigh: I'm gonna take the extra shipping costs out of the West Virginia elves' butts...LOL
Happy Holiday's All ! ! ! :music:

Never mind...right state, wrong Santa: Thank you Santa Toasted Almond! :thmbsp:

Hmmm, it would appear that my Secret Santa took the time to look at posts and make some very accurate assumptions about both my tastes in music and my prference in media...

In no particular order, Taj Mahal "self titled", Patti Smith Group "wave", Ry Cooder "Bob Till Ya Drop" and Edgar Winter's "White Trash".

Damn, I would have walked away giddy from a thrift after finding those, and, they all sound excellent.

Either that or some stranger sent me vinyl and my SS sent me a fire extinguisher and mount for my jeep....

My secret Santa gift came today in the form of a gift code from SoundStageDirect. Acting like money burning a hole in my pocket I found a vinyl copy of Neil Young's Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere. My favorite NY album. "Down by the river. I shot my baby" Can't wait till it arrives.

Thanks Santa. Very cool!! :thmbsp:

Okay, a big-assed box came today that I'm GUESSING is from Santa..... I ordered a new phone on ebay but the location of the seller and this package doesn't match, so I'm guessing this is no phone..... I'm gonna wait until Christmas :)

And Santa just sent a package to one of you fellas a little late because he simply feels you're a hard boy to shop for!!!

I guess because of the season the mail around here is running twice a day and a box was just dropped off. My mailman had already been here at 3pm.

My secret Santa ( I believe) posted this.
Thanks for all you do Ernie. I got mine, but even after searching back 25 pages of posts on my person, I still don't have a clue as to what to get them. This year is gonna be a tough one indeed.

He did a fine job. Many go the music route as it is always safe. I have always tried to go a different way and my SS did as well. I received a box of bullets for reloading. They are the perfect size and weight.:thmbsp:

Thank you once again.
