I’ve got one, they are certainly usable and good option for someone putting together a budget system

They make sense sometimes. My subsonic filter runs a basic ac wart. No poor quality switch mode electronics or filters, just 16 vac output. This kept a 120 vac mains connection outside of the box, and all of the safety concerns and potential for noise that involved. It just comes in and runs through a rectifier and regulator. Also lets the box be nice and small since nothing inside needs space for noise isolation, voltage insulation, or room for a transformer.
Not a solution for all issues but for that specific one it does real nice.
Mine is a diy using Rod Elliott's psu and filter board. Its stuffed into a little aluminum project box from Amazon. Wart is a random flea market find that had the right output
Ok, so I am curious as a buyer, what are your thoughts on the Sota Pyxi vs the Bellari VP 130 MK2. Not trying to start a war here. I'm 75 percent in line with purchasing the Pyxi. I just like the looks of the ITi unit. does it function as well as it looks??
When it comes to anything audio, looks take a backseat to performance, at least in my system. Doesn't mean a piece can't look good doing the job, but, for me, it's not a strict requirement. The Pyxi get really good marks for performance, of the two you mentioned, I think it's no contest.
well, i dont hear/read anything bad about the pyxi, and there are lots of bad user reviews of the bellari, which i really doubt is a tube phono amp anyways. it boasts "all tube circuitry," and i have no idea how. how u do RIAA with one triode (half a tube) and end up with 100ohms output impedance? on top of that, every product description posts the same few reviews, at least one of which doesnt come up in a google search.

The Pyxi was designed with a focus on the MC performance, I have a feeling you won't be dissatisfied.
read good things about rothwell. was interested in their inline attenuators & wrote to ask a basic question. they wrote back but didnt answer. wrote em a few times. they refuse to answer. they REALLY dont want my money.
